Nice video. ALL British officers use rigid cuffs, usually Hiatt Speedcuffs (now produced by safariland). Always interesting to see the little differences in different countries and their Police forces.

If anyone needs handcuffs and don't want to spend to much, if you're department/company allows. I personally recommend viper tech. They are just as good as any others as far as I'm concerned and perfectly good especially for security. If you're a cop and need them all the time maybe spend a bit more. But just as a security officer. They are fine.

Donovan, you said that hinged handcuffs are easier to place on a combative individual than chained cuffs. Can you make a video to demonstrate how you would put them on a combative suspect? Thanks!
@burninbarrelz1079
@burninbarrelz1079 5 жыл бұрын
Never handcuff while the suspect is still combative, control then cuff.
@JEST3R_
@JEST3R_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@burninbarrelz1079 I don't know the thing about cops, but as a Correctional officer, we cuff fuckers TO gain control of them. I've had to tackle someone, cuff one wrist and use it to gain leverage on it so I can grab the other arm with one hand to get them because he was trying to fight my fellow officer.
@burninbarrelz1079
@burninbarrelz1079 2 жыл бұрын
@@JEST3R_ The problem with that is you give the suspect a potential weapon, this is why cops/correctional officers NEED to train jiu jitsu or wrestling. If that cuff gets away from you then you and your partner could be in big trouble. I sure as shit don't want someone swinging a hook at me.
@JEST3R_
@JEST3R_ 2 жыл бұрын
@@burninbarrelz1079 that's fair, and I do train BJJ, but I need someone restrained as fast as possible, say when they just sucker punched my best friend in the face and is about to get the upper hand, I have to stop the threat ASAP, and if that means using cuffs before they're compliant, I'm going to cuff someone before they're compliant

For road patrol, asp, for corrections Peerless or S&W. Each handcuff has its pros and cons. The big thing with asp is that they're user friendly, and best suited for temporary application. However, they're easier to escape from given the double key holes.

S&W are to small for me personal they don’t do well when cuffing fat fucks or people with calves for wrist. I prefer asp and peerless. I also like push pin double lock I think the window ones are just plain retarded.

I'm curious your thoughts on civilians carrying a set of cuffs. Like say a regular Joe needed to keep a bad guy detained until police could arrive on the scene.
@SomeoneStoleMyHandle
@SomeoneStoleMyHandle 8 жыл бұрын
+Defensive Firearms Instruction I usually go with thumbcuffs, they restrict motion enough and are secure to be of the level of threat I would be dealing with as a civ. Also, thumbcuffs are easier to conceal and more comfortable to carry. Plus, there should be no issues with "impersonation of a police officer" charges if you're carrying a firearm and want to wear some tactical gear too.

As a Security Officer/ Private Investigator I have had the experience that when transferring custody of a subject to the police, DO NOT allow them to take the subject with your cuffs, you will not get them back! Advice officers to cuff subject with their own and allow yourself to uncuff subject to get your handcuffs back.
@WorldofSpirits1955
@WorldofSpirits1955 8 жыл бұрын
+GunFun11 If you are giving custody of a subject to "anyone" else ... Cuff with a second set of cuffs supplied by the receiving entity. Now there are two pairs of cuffs on the subject. Have that party search to satisfaction. Do not rely on any actual or perceived prior search. Once searched remove the original cuffs and transport. NEVER un-cuff a secure prisoner to re-cuff!

Michael William - Never! Different agencies, different hand cuffs etc, etc. The dual cuff process ensures the officer assuming custody "searches" the person in custody!

If your NOT certified and an intruder comes into your house, can you handcuff them??
@matthewsouthworth3696
@matthewsouthworth3696 7 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, yes. HOWEVER if you're not trained you shouldn't. PERIOD. If you don't know what you're doing, there is a good chance that you will cause nerve damage to the other person. Even if you were trained, it would be inadvisable even to a law enforcement officer to handcuff someone that broke into their home. If you haven't shot them dead already, hold them at gunpoint until the police get there. There is no likely situation where you're going to go Rambo on someone and handcuff them by yourself, especially not safely. So take my advice and NEVER try it. You're more likely to get hurt, killed, or get sued than anything else.

If you have ever restrained a combative subject you know that your average joe and security guard would struggle in that situation without proper training. Then there is the subject of civil liability. Call 911 and follow their instructions, if armed and LEGALLY allowed to, hold the subject at gun point from a safe distance until law enforcement arrives and does the cuffing.
