Dennis, Thanks for featuring one of our pumps! We do offer both the pump alone as well as with a keyway or other desired accessories. Thank you for showing the gap and how to resolve it. Because it is not the same bolting, this gap can occur on a select number of models. Without realizing this gap could exist, a customer could break one of the legs off, so when you show people to dry-fit the unit, it is some great advice! We are happy it worked for you and we do hope you will order from us again. We now have our own website with free regular shipping within the lower 48 states. God bless and stay rugged!

Thanks so much for watching and for the feedback! Your pump has made a huge difference in the operation of my pressure washer and many others as well. With your pump, this unit is better than new! Thanks for a great product at an affordable price. It's nice to get positive feedback from the manufacturer, I appreciate that!

Thanks, Dennis, for saving me hundreds of $$. I knew nothing about pressure washers until I saw this. I was this close to buying a new one an hour earlier. Mine broke and unloader valves aren't available any more. I thought it was toast. But fixing it was easy once you showed me how. Clear views, good instruction, no stupid background music (thank you for that). Nice video. And super useful links. I used them and found an open box new pump for $63! That's a lot less than the $350 I almost spent at TS today!

Great Video AAA+++ Keep in mind that BEFORE you connect your water supply, MAKE SURE you get the required static & dynamic pressure and flow rate from your supply hose. For example, your pump may require 2.5 GPM (gallons per minute) and a minimum pressure of 20 PSI. You may have a static house pressure of 80 PSI, but when the water is flowing at 2.5 GPM, the dynamic pressure may drop to 20 PSI. For the flow rate, use a bucket and measure how fast it fills to 2.5 gallons.

Great video I think I'm in need of a new pump or a rebuilding of the existing pump. I have on my Briggs & Stratton pressure washer.. I couldn't help but notice the engine rpm up & down or better, known as hunting. It looked like you had a Honda engine, which is also what I currently have as well. Tho the engine hunting does not affect it the longevity of your engine it can be annoying to a DIY er such as yourself. The way to fix the engine rpm up and down is there should be a small screw with a Phillips number 2 head near the carburetter bowl. There' are 2 different types of set ups in order for you to get out that screw and remove it but you probably won't have to remove the carburetter, when you remove the screw you'll either find nothing inside of it but a hole and if you take a micro hand drill about 13,000" and gingerly, mimic a drill bit back-and-forth. Eventually, you'll poke through that clog of ethanol in that jet, and then you could blow it out with some compressed air or better yet carburetter cleaner and compressed air.

Thank you for watching, Rolando! That's how I ended up replacing mine. The parts to rebuild the piston pump were more than this new pump. I wish I had done it a long time ago. The new pump works better, gives me more pressure and makes the engine easier to start because it has an unloader valve.

Picked one of these power washers up at a yard sale the other day thinking I had walked away with a deal for $100. I got it home and hooked it up and it was more like a sprinkler than a power washer! Looks like all the seals and even the thermal bypass had failed! It's a shame because the engine, frame and hose and sprayer are all in really really good condition. So, Dennis, you've really saved the day with this video. I ordered the parts and with any luck they'll be here this weekend. While I have it apart I think I'll also replace the cracked up tires with some pneumatics, repaint some rust spots on the frame and mount a container for soap on it somewhere. Figure I might as well soup it up if I'm gonna spend a few hundred on it.

Hey Dennis I had the exact same model with the same problems, leaking out of the pump with no pressure. I was fortunate enough to find your video and I used your link to order the pump. I got the key from Ace Hardware for .65 cents. I followed your video and installed my new pump and like you, the power washer is better than new!! Thanks for the video instructions. I have the same pressure washer and the pump had a crack on the outlet so I could not get any pressure. Tried to replace the pump but the pump was discontinued from the manufacturer. Looked around and came across this video. I ordered the pump on EBAY and installed and tested. It works, no leak and good pressure. Will try it out in the coming weeks. I think I spent more time to look for the 3/8” bolts than the time I installed the pump credited with this video. Thank again for taking the time to do the video. Be safe.

Thank you for your excellent how-to video. When I looked up replacement pumps for my VR2522, I balked when I saw they all looked so different from the original. But your video showed me it was not going to be a hack job and would be fairly simple. One little snag was the pre-cut key was not square and had to be filed down to fit. The most annoying thing was getting those stupid plastic rivets out of the plastic shroud (which has been discarded.) My pump works great now.

Another helpful video. I have a power washer that has lost a lot of pressure. I was thinking about buying a new washer, but after watching this video, I’ll spend the $80 and give that a try. My pump mounts on the back of engine instead of underneath it, so the pump might be a little easier to replace on my washer. A very well done and helpful video. One suggestion though for a modification to the process shown that I found makes things easier: Rather than installing the pump with the unit tilted back on its side, start by placing the motor completely upside down on a bench, then position the frame on top of it, and finally slide the pump over the shaft and line up the bolts and spacers. By doing the install with the entire unit upside down you are allowing gravity to do the work for you rather than working against it by installing at an angle. Just be sure once installed you let the unit sit right side up for a while to allow the oil to drain back down into the sump before starting. Thanks again and hope this helps!

The other set up you may encounter is removing a screw and inside there's a jet itself I believe and the same idea, clean it up and put it back in and then when you start it up, you'll no longer have that up and down engine rpm surge. I look forward to watching your next video. Thanks again.

@@dwcoffey ive seen a 3100 psi 2.5gpm pump upgrade. Do you think the motor can handle that or is too much?
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Mario, I'd be concerned about the engine handling 3100psi. Although, there is only a slight difference between the 2500psi original pump and this 2800psi pump I installed. I suppose if the 3100psi pump you are looking at can be adjusted...you could try it. If it is too much for the engine, reduce the pressure. I spent all afternoon today using my washer with the new pump. I can really tell a difference in how fast I can work with this new pump. 3100psi would be really nice if it runs well with it.

After having so many pumps crack in between the three valves, I started getting the ones with brass at the valves. The aluminum cracks under pressure at startup if the pressure washer has been sitting or if using bad water. Paying the extra $20-$30 for a brass one is well worth it and you'll never have to replace the pump for a long time. I even had a new 2700 Pressure Washer (used once and left sitting) that was leajing and too expensive to repair given to me.

AWESOME Video!!! AAA+++ This new pump worked great. I wish I could post some Pics - I have a couple suggestions: 1) screw in the Thermal Valve first, before you mount the pump. 2) I used a Dremmel with a cutting wheel to cut out a front section of the top plastic cover, (after I completely removed the small front & bottom section), 3) I put a flat board behind the top engine shroud and in front of the red handles - this held the engine in place when I tipped it back and removed/replaced the engine bolts. FYI - Google removed the American Flag from the emoji list and replaced it with a pride flag 😪😟

Thanks for watching, Elizabeth! The bolts that hold the pump to the frame also hold the engine to the frame. So, once you remove the pump, the engine is loose. You could definitely do the replacement without lifting the engine, you just have to do it from underneath and be careful not to lean on the engine etc. or it will possibly slide.

Great video. I have an old Honda PWH2500 and the pump bearing and housing have broken. I wasn't sure if the outer engine mounting holes would match these replacement pumps but after watching your video I think I'll go ahead and buy one. They seem to be a bit more expensive here in the UK. The only one I can find is on Amazon.co.uk at £99.99 but I think it would be worth it. By the way my engine is a Honda GCV 160. I'm not sure if that's what yours is but it looks very similar. Thanks, Kenny.

Thanks you for watching, Kenny! Yes sir, the engine on mine is the same Honda 160. I have never liked this pressure washer as much as I do now with this new pump. I do find that I have to let the engine warm up a bit longer (maybe 5-10 minutes) before running the pump. I suppose the new pump requires a bit more power to run, but after the engine is warmed up, this thing rocks! Let me know how your replacement goes, hopefully you'll see results similar to mine.

@@dwcoffey Thanks for your reply. You've got me thinking now. The one I was looking at is rated at 3100psi max. Do you think it would work if I adjusted the unloader valve a little to reduce the pressure? It's marketed by Waspper but the name on the pump is Himore. When I looked on the Waspper website they had two versions of the same pump, one with a brass head which was nearly double the price of the one with the ordinary head (Aluminium I think) There's another one on Amazon by Yamatic which is rated 2900psi max, 2300psi normal. Only problem is they don't ship to my address (Northern Ireland) Not sure what to do now. I might take a chance on the cheap one from Waspper. Probably cost me about £60 including postage.

@dwcoffey 3 жыл бұрын
I'd be concerned about that engine handling a 3100psi pump, but....the one I installed is a 2800psi pump. So, you might be on to something....if you adjust the unloader valve a bit, it might be fine. I wish I could say for sure, but I can't with any degree of certainty. Mine runs fine once warmed up and doesn't stall at all, but I also feel like if the pump was running any higher pressure, it might.

@@dwcoffey Hi Dennis. Good news. I got the pump fitted and it's working great. The engine seems to be handling it OK. I think the psi ratings on some of these pumps are a bit inflated anyway. I agree with you; the pressure is better now than it ever was with the original pump. One very slight problem. The only way the pump would fit was with the connectors pointing backwards which means the axel is slightly in the way but I can live with that. Also I did a stupid thing when fitting it. The detergent inlet was in the way for getting the long extension onto one of the bolts so I screwed it out and I must have put it back in wrong cos when I started the machine the water was spraying out of it. When I screwed it out again I couldn't find the spring and ball so I got one of the balls out of the old broken bearing and used it to block the valve. Probably means that the detergent inlet won't work now but I never use it anyway. Thanks again for your video. You saved me a heap of money. Keep up the good work, Kenny.

Thanks for watching, Jordan! Glad you got it going! I love this new pump on mine, it's like a brand new pressure washer. The governor on these Honda engines seem to do that a lot.....I'm sure there's a way to adjust the governor so doesn't change the engine speed so much, but I haven't gotten into it yet. I might tackle that and make a video! Seems like it should only respond to a load (when there is demand from the pump) and not change the idle speed so much. Mine has always done that, and it won't hurt anything, but it does seem weird.

@dwcoffey Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! This replacement pump uses an unloader valve rather than a surge hose like the original pump (one of the reasons I like this replacement pump). The original surge hose will hold water, if the water freezes, it pops the hose. When I replaced the pump, I removed the plastic shroud housing around the pump. Then I picked up a couple of wheels at Harbor Frieght....I think they have a 5/8" diameter bore. I had a piece of 5/8" rod stock, just cut it to length and drilled a hole through the shaft in each end for cotter pins. I put a large fender washer behind and in front of each wheel. I hope that helps!

I tried everything to get the pump to slide on the shaft even putting it in the freezer to "shrink" it, but it still would not fit. I ended up filing off about 1/16 of the 1/4 sodes to make it fit. You should wrap the tape on so that the tail end will not ball up when you thread in the valve. Yes! I agree....I hate plastic wrap! Thanks for watching!

I've just been really thankful that the scoot hasn't needed any work. I've been able to ride and not work on it....which is great! It's time for me to replace the chain and probably time for a brake job soon....so it's coming! LOL! Thanks for watching!!

I'd replace it. Take the hose off and match the size, length and thickness at your local auto parts store for a replacement. Thanks for watching!
