Flowers don't dye well. It's so unfair bc they come in such a lovely variety of colors, but pretty much all them turn brown under sunlight. I've gotten a nice pale yellow from dandelion, but purple is *tricky*. Avocado can give a pretty mauve/pink though!
@user-bl9hq2gf6i4 ай бұрын
no. just because something has a bright colour doesnt mean it stains your clothes in that colour. Im guessing berries would work a bit better, but that seems super wastful and at that point just wash you rwhite clothes with something red and youll get a cheaper and more sustainabl result :D :D

When you make a betroot soup you are supposed to cook it on a very little power, never let it boil with bubbles. And at the end you should add some vinegar. That are my grannies methods, so the colour will not become brownish or gray. Maybe that woukd work here too?

Boiling the beetroots for long won't really help if u only have the tops cut ...the pigment betanin in beetroots are present inside the beetroot cells ..the pigment only comes out when the membrane is damaged so chopping them into smaller pieces would help.. Either way beetroot isn't really a dye and more of a stain so it would fade with time either way

Um heyy so since tumeric is a natural indicator there are chances that the stains from acidic and basic substances will have different colours on the dress.. i think there's something that people who use natural and vegetable dyes do to stop that from happening but I'm not sure what exactly it is. But can you make a video on it if those stains do show up in different colours??😂

turmeric makes such a beautiful colour! you just need to be careful because the colour reacts to ph levels. so if your sweat is a different ph than the products you use to clean the dress the sweat stains might dry red or orange instead of drying back to the colour of the dress

When you boiled the beetroot you lose the color and destroy it in the water- I recommend ( as a cook) to cut the ends off, place them in a hotel pan and cover in kitchen grade plastic wrap 4 times and foil once . The plastic wrap is to seal in the moisture and the foil is the finisher. When it’s been in the oven at 400 for about 45 mins - you can remove them and let them cool and peel the beets. After I recommend adding a little water and blending them in a vita-mix on high and then pour that mixture thru a very fine sieve and you should get a texture less red liquid that you can then soak your dress in- please let me know if this helps and if anyone tried it ❤

@ScheelesGreen4 ай бұрын
Try adding salt, like a lot of it, to the pigment. Sometimes vinegar will help but look online for things that help natural dies. Stay color fast. You’d also probably get more color out of the beetroot by actually shredding it boiling the shreds and then filtering out the shreds with the cheese cloth, and then that water will be extremely pigmented. The boiled beetroot shreds are good for birds pigs goats, even just being compost in a garden, or even just thrown directly into a garden and you know letting it rot into the soil and feeding it that way.

The color of beetroot was destroyed by high temperature, to prevent it you need to add some acid. But better for use is the juice acid combo.
@SLilley-jd8rj4 ай бұрын
If you really want a beet root color, juice it and use the juice raw. It'll be vibrate. Tho its a stain and not a real due so itll come out eventually. Till then, you'll have a bright red violet.

Any plant need to extract the pigment first. I usualy do it with creme de tarte and bicarbonate de soude reaction in hot water. (I don't know ingredient in emglish) you filter it and dry out the pigment. And for a full dress you probably need more than 3 beetroot if you want something vibrant.

The repeat the process for 3 times.

did a project at fashion uni about natural dyes. and everybody was disappointed beetroot didn't work so well. preparing the fabric, which should be a fully natural fiber at best is key. red khale worked well for redosh and blue tones. turmeric is great too as you could see in this video. certain teas are ok too, berries were by far some of the best results, next to onions kin and henna, though it can be very expensive to use berries since you need loads of them (frozen ones are a cheaper solution). in the end most of the dyes did not last that long when confronted with washing and sunlight. I would rather recommend to look up other sustainable solutions if you are looking for longlasting results. it in the end the process itself is a lot of fun too and definetly worth the experience.
