Thank you all for being just an incredibly helpful channel when it comes to keyboards. You're helping fill a gaping hole in the knowledge base in an honestly fun and easy-to-understand way. You're being more than just your product, but the message behind them as well and I respect that wholly. The Defy is on my list of eventual buys, once I save up enough for it. I've been using a Razer Tartarus for years now for gaming and program controls, and have been longing to convert to the full split, ortholinear experience. And with videos like this, I feel so much more confident in that decision and how to customize it.

My Raise was equipped with "Cherry MX Brown" (silent, tactile, 55g actuation force) and "Kailh Choc Brown" (silent, tactile, 50g actuation force). These switches were selected when I had no idea there were so many options regarding the switches. I am a programmer (I type a lot daily) and a MWO player, so my Raise is used for both a lot of typing (typing, not racing on the keyboard to achieve high WPM speed for the sake of doing it) and hours of gaming. I prefer silent tactile switches with high actuation force, note that my typing style makes me press the key till the bump, never bottom it out. I love switches with a pronounced bump. That said, here is my current switch configuration; I replaced: * the "Cherry MX Brown" in my Raise with "Gazzew Boba U4 Silent Tactile Switch" with clear topping (68g actuation force). * the "Kailh Choc Brown" switched (the ones for T5..T8) were replaced with "Kailh Choc Heavy Burnt Orange Switches (70g actuation force)"

Boba U4Ts and U4s are just about the perfect switches. That's what I use on my Raise, and the only thing I'm even interested is the forthcoming U4Tx which has a box stem.

This was a very informative video! It helped explain what the numbers mean respective to actuation force in a way that makes it easy to understand). I currently have an MX-Blue based keyswitch keyboard it IT is KNOWN when I am typing 😂 I love the sound as well as the feedback (it definitely does take an EFFORT TO DEPRESS THE KEYS, but it's sooooooo worth it if you're a fast touch typist 😁). I supported the Dygma Defy campaign and ordered Khail Silent Browns as I wanted to be able to type and not have to be on mute while on (work) calls. I'm sure that I'll switch these out once I get a chance to hear how they sound and feel how they respond to fast typing.

Hey Dygmates! 🤘🏼 I'm a huge fan of your killer keyboard video content! 😍 As a keyboard noob, I've watched all your videos and I'm super excited for Defy to drop. 💻 I type for 8+ hours a day as a programmer, but I'm clueless when it comes to keyboard switches. 🤷🏻‍♂ My only previous experience is with the Magic Keyboard (RIP me, am I right?) 🤦🏻‍♂ Can you keyboard gurus give me a hand and recommend which switch to choose? 🙏🏼 I'm ready to level up my typing game and leave my Magic Keyboard days behind! 💪🏼 Thanks for all the amazing content, and keep up the awesome work! 🤘🏼 You guys are the real MVPs of the keyboard world! ⌨

For those coming from a Magic Keyboard, we always recommend the Kailh Silent Brown. If you add o-rings to reduce the travel distance, you'll get a feel that's as close as possible. The o-rings come included in the enhancement kit of all our keyboards 😊

First time keyboard builder here, I have a bit of a problem. I bought the Keychron V1 barebone knob kit from keychron along with some of their cherry profile double shot PBT key caps. The problem I am having is that all of the switches that I wanted to get were north facing rgb switch’s but the keyboard is a south facing rgb keyboard. I was hoping you could recommend some good tactile, south facing switch’s where i can feel the activation but still have a nice thoccc sound (so they sound like legos being built) and aren’t too loud. Thank you so much!
@DygmaLab
@DygmaLab Жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, You can use any switch model. The lights are facing south, but the legs of the switch are pinned in the north area. You won't have problems with the LEDs, the part of the switch that lets the light shine, will be on top of them. As for which specific model to pick, Boba UT4 or Durock V1 or V2 match the parameters, but that's a very personal choice. You might prefer lighter (and cheaper) switches, such as Kailh Speed Copper, so the best we can recommend is for you to test some and decide which feel better for you 🤗

Hello! This video was extremely helpful in giving me a better understanding of all the different switch types. Im new to mechanical keyboards and I would appreciate some advice. Im looking for a switch that would offer a quick spring back (not sure if thats call feedback?). I will be using my keyboard mainly for typing and I type pretty quick so Im looking for something that will be responsive enough to keep up. I also like the "clicky" sound but not as loud as traditional blue switches. They seem to ping too much for my liking if that makes any sense. Hope you can give me some advice!
@DygmaLab
@DygmaLab Ай бұрын
I'm really glad the video was helpful for you! In your case, I'd suggest going for switches like Cherry MX Brown, Kailh Speed Copper, Razer Orange, Gateron Brown, or Zealios V2. These options give you a quick springback with tactile feedback and a moderate clicky sound without being as loud as traditional blue switches

These keyboards look great! I’m loving the defy. I’ll be jumping all the way into split keyboards with it. So far I’ve used the MacBook Pro scissor switches and got used to them. Moved to the MX keys and liked those but I hated the mini because of tiny arrow keys and the full size for distant location to the arrow keys and home/end keys. I’m now in the Mx mechanical mini with low profile brown kailh switches. I honestly don’t care for these much because of the travel distance. They actuate early and at times I get many typos. Would you still recommend the silent browns with o-rings if I’d like to get back closer to the MacBook? I’ve been looking at those, the gaterons, and the speed switches both tactile and linear. I’m happy to use o-rings on any of them if they are compatible. Maybe I should try them on the keyboard now while I wait in the defy. Love the innovation in these products and the full customization. Will be a major learning curve but as a software developer I’d really like to use my little fingers less since I use the modifier keys SO much! Looked at all the split keyboard options and these are my favorite. If I was to settle on another it would be the glove but not sure about the finger well. Can’t swap switches either so it’s a very distant second to the defy! Thank you. You make these videos entertaining!

I really like the Dygma but with Opto mechanical switches and Lekker switches of the wooting can this board really hold up in gaming with a 1.1 actuation and no ability to mod in opto or lekkers? Does shape reign supreme even with older switches in gaming?

Those switches are a great innovation, and they are definitely something we want to explore. Right now, we are focused on comfort and ergonomics because we believe it’s the key differential when you game, but there’s much more we can do next. 💪

HI newbie, which would be best for gaming, I am not bothered by clicking etc, and I can not afford to buy the wooting 60HE (looks great for gaming) but which switches would be best to build my first keyboard, looking at the keychron. Just not sure on switches, and does not need to be the newest kit. something reponsive for games like COD etc. and then easy to use for games like Anno 1800, Total War etc and emulator games like pac-man, mario kart - to some offie type work
@DygmaLab
@DygmaLab Жыл бұрын
For games, we normally recommend fast switches like the Speed ones from Kailh. Within the speed family, you can have one of the fastest actuation points and can select if you want a linear, tactile, or clicky variation. Akko also makes some nicely priced switch options that you could check 😉

@DygmaLab
@DygmaLab Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear about the pain, but since you`re already taking action, it will be gone in no time 💪 As for which to buy, are you referring to switches or the keyboard? If it's the keyboard, we'd recommend you get something that improves your hand position and does not push the wrists together, search for more info on split keyboards and choose within your budget and preferences; any of them will improve your hand posture and help with the pain. This video might help kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p552mKWBt6veinU.html Since most of those models are mechanical, we'd recommend something not very noisy and with good touch, the Kailh Silent Brown, if you like tactile or the Gateron Yellow switches are great options to improve the typing experience; hope this was of some help!
