Whats up guys so today I got a video that has been very heavily requested. People in the comments have been asking me to 3D print a yoyo like crazy since I got my first 3D printer. In this video I 3D Print a model designed by Jeffery Pang as well as his bullet counterweight. You can get all the models and everything here fluidprint.bigcartel.com/store . That shape is killer - I love the very organic but with a big cut to make it more H shaped yoyos like the Aviator II - Definitely print the other one also. Cool stuff, dude.

Countersunk nuts can be inserted into 3d prints which are too tight by placing the nut on the end of a soldering iron (the pen style for small electronics, not the gun) for a moment then using the iron to press it into place. Super Handy!

Oh hey, Dylan, in response to what you said at 5:21, because of the holes not being the right size, one thing you can do is chop the model down to just a portion of the yoyo, like the spacer/axle/axle nut portion, and just print that to check it. That's what I've been doing to not waste too much PLA or time. That way, I know the print is more likely to work out properly. I just use the "3D Builder" program that comes with Windows 10 to split it.

I've designed a yoyo to take these spacers, also. I printed a "prototype" that had 3d printed bearing seats and response pad recesses, it is based on the shape of the Katana. I'll send you the file once it's tested and considered finished if you'd like.

I assume PLA since its on the kossel which doesn't have a heated bed.

You should try and make a metal yoyo out of the 3D printer plastic. For example: Find the dimensions of a horizon and try to make it on the 3D printer

I've made a few, my own designs. They are always too light and always responsive for me. It's cause the plastic comes out rough and sticky. Maybe a vapor polish would fix it. I don't think you will be able to print one that doesn't vibe like crazy. Nothing ever comes out perfect due to the nature of extrusion printing. To be fair my printer is garbage though. I have also never used those metal spacers so I may have to try that. I'm saving up so I can buy and convert a mini lathe to cnc so I can actually start producing legit yoyos. I bet a liquid printer might actually work for this though. I will be really interested to see if you can get one working.

Its possible that you have an overextrusion issue with your printer. When you do something with 100%infil you don't want to have any overextrusion as it doesn't have anywhere to go but out and that'll cause all the issues you had with that print.

Probably not illegal. There's the 66% collection of smaller yoyos made out of SS. There's a 66 shutter, a 66 haymaker, and something else I think. If anything give credit to YYF. They probably wouldn't be good though.

Only problem I see with this is the weight distrubution would be different because metal is heavier than plastic, and certain shapes are impossible to print without tons of supports, which is a big waste of time and filament. I've been designing a yoyo for a while and doing so while keeping "is it possible to print this" in mind is pretty difficult.

For anyone wanting to design a yoyo, but don't have software or know how to use it, check out TinkerCad. It's free and super simple to understand. It's an online program as well, so no downloading needed.

Dylan Kowalski It's great for designing yoyos because it offers all the simple geometry. Just make sure you drag the "sides" slider all the way to the right to make it as round as possible on your shapes like cones and cylinders. Also, it's an online program, you don't have to download it.

Also, the 4a yoyo doesn't need any spacers, just a bearing, pads, and a 20 mm long, 5mm wide axle
