I think not securing the Settlement early on was a mistake. 4:1 the ore off was fine to get that spot and the port.

FYI, the chat disappears at 14:30 I believe due to an editing error with the subscribe tag. While I appreciate the tighter editing, at times this comes at the expense of the audience's ability to read the chat. Since you're cutting to the start of everyone's turns, at times after only a few seconds, the chat 'jumps' and we need to continuously pause or rewind to read. Sometimes the chat messages are lost. This can be frustrating as I feel like the table talk is such an integral part of Catan games. Keep up the good work!

I really hate when the edit cuts out the chat. You cut the part of the best drama and it makes the dynamics hard to follow. I’d rather watch a longer video that doesn’t time skip important interactions.

Didn't check if there was actually enough ore, but a 6 ore mono would've been the win. You have a city in hand, plus the 3 ore, and trade the extra ore and sheep for wheat.

I thought the exact same thing. But after looking back, I think there were only 6 ore total (including the 3 in his hand), so it wouldn't have worked either.

Nice game. I feel like you should have taken the opportunities to settle + city earlier on. You were already far ahead on knights, and fishing for Vps was iffy when multiple players already probably had a few of them.

You said so many times times that you needed to settle the 3:1 port on the 8 wheat but didn’t prioritize it at all. You legit played 10-12 orbits after placing the road down without making a single play for the settle. You literally handed it to black by waiting forever and almost could’ve been locked out from the win

I liked the 843. 843 has two 3 1 ports and doesn’t get you locked out of wheat. With 843 you likely have either 9411 or 5 411. Double nonblockable ore strong wheat. Coordinated road. Love to hear someone’s opinion about this

My exact thoughts. Brick has high value on this board too, whereas there will be tons of sheep. Really thought 8 4 3 was the obvious choice

2nd city was 100% better than dev. The logic that you need the vp before the city is bad because you’re going to buy devs the entire game so get the extra production

The spoiler animation in the chat was really distracting since we couldn’t read the chat, so I was watching that spot to see when it would reappear instead of watching the game. And then the chat didn’t even come back 😢

Yep, this was an epic failure. The designer will have to edit the next two videos for free to compensate for this blunder. Actually I think that this video should be re-edited and re-uploaded.

@@ne0yif the hiding of the chat was intentional, Dylan would have placed some suitable graphic on top of it to make his intention clear (like the biohazard or toxic radiation symbols). It's highly unlikely to be intentional. Toxicity sells, and Dylan is a merchant. Look at the red arrows in the thumbnails of his videos, and the capitalized words in the videos' titles. Why would he want to detach the viewers from the most interesting part of the game, and make them feel disoriented and unsatisfied?

What do you guys think of 8/4/3 in first here? Brick is pretty rare on this board. Feels like you can get a decent sheep/wood spot on the way back. Maybe slightly too low on production.

In the end you can definitely build the city before you mono, than you see if they are 6 ore ore out there, because if thats the case, that mono is winning, while wheat mono is never enough

You said you counted 6 ore to mono at the end but took wheat instead. 6 ore would give you two cities as you trade three of them and three sheep for the two wheat you need

Lol if you really wanted that spot, you should have 4:1 at any point in the 50 turns after you dropped the road. Instead you bought 7 dev cards when a total of 2 others had been drawn by your opponents. Just so greedy.

There got to be some luck boost for catan youtubers to lure new players or something. I constantly get joke rolls or get robbed to death. Last game got blocked 43 cards while my opponents got blocked for 7 cards all together. Got screen of that. This is like 80% of games I have. This just got to be some rigging going on. The probability makes it impossible for me to get treated like that by dice.

It might have something to do with your nickname (is it insulting in any way?) or with your behavior in the chat. Or with tracking the probabilities in your mind instead of deriving them from writen records. It is easy to be subjective and forget all the good rolls you get, and remember only the bad rolls.

@@JohnSmithEx Thanks my name is fine. Im cool too. (unless Im getting close to getting raped too many times lol. I had one loosing streak of 17 games, then few mixed and then I had 25 losses in a row. I didn't play all the games perfectly but I didn't lose on purpose. Im not making this up). I've had some good games too of course. And plenty of lucky rolls. But the ratio of them is miniscule to the ratio of terrible ones. Anyhow. I also wonder if there is a way to setup the game so i get picked better players for the games? When I lose i lose 7 points. When I win i win no more than 20. I see Dylighted getting like -3 and when he wins he gets even over 30 sometimes. With such circumstances it would be 2x easier to climb the ladder. I can't break 1500 tho

@@michaelk1589I can't help you improve your rating. Most player have an interactional relation with their rating. My personal relation is unidirectional. I am playing to win because winning is fun, and my rating just happens to reflect my progress. I don't try to manipulate it. My rating follows my performance. My rating is behind me, not in front of me.

@@JohnSmithEx Just played another game. there were TWO 8's and TWO 5's. Had both important resources on that. And the game wasn't short. This game is a joke. Sorry just had to vent lol. This is just incredible. There were also 9 6's and 11 9's and 4 12's that were not mine. You cannot make this sheet up lol. I just don't see such unbalanced rolls on youtubers games. So im curious what's going on.

Continuously popping seemed like such a waste, there literally was no contender for the biggest army, yet you wasted like 6 devs just to get that 1 VP. I feel like it would have been better just to build to 10 starting with a settlement so you had 4 roads and could surprise the board with 2-3 roads to get the longest road and win with army+road (given you had the year of plenty).
