really interesting, I have always loved comics and drawing like them and have been forever, love the style. Something i have been doing is putting a thick black edge around the sides to exaggerate them, do you recommend that? (ignore the name)

Do you always sketch the entire skeleton or can you skip some of it when you are trained enough because you feel like it takes too much time

I notice a lot of people who complain about not being able to draw suffer from this. like most people have never heard of a rough sketch and immediately try and fail to do a drawing like in the video.

I've been trying to create poses on my characters roughly like 5-6 hours because i don't want their bodies look stiff. While watching this video, i was dumbfounded that this method make it more easier to draw. Thank you box office artist, I will subscribe at your channel.

His rough sketches of the hands are amazing! Hands are usually one of the few things that trouble me when drawing (especially on a small scale because of the difficulty in controlling line weight). James is crazy talented and crazy committed (see the Star Wars tribute he is currently working his ass off on for Comic Con)! Mad props!

I hear ya. Maybe try posing in the mirror and see how your muscles twist. Pay attention to the lines, aka perspective. If you are really struggling, maybe try some 2d /3D perspective drawing.

When I was little I traced a whole bunch. I think that really helps to train your brain on how the body should be positioned when posing.

What you need to do, is to gather up a bunch of good bodyrefs that you are curious about.. and then start to do it the other way around. Find the joints, make the skeleton on top of the full form. Reverse engineering is how you figure out a ton of stuff.

I love that I can absorb a little bit of technique each time I watch a video like this. Seeing the rough sketches has been very helpful! I've had to get over the idea of everything looking clean through every stage of the drawing. I'm going to try to push some more dynamic forms in my next session, twist and bend the skeleton.

Haiii, Jazza! You should make a forum on your website, that way people can share their artwork and have it critiqued. It's kind of like Sycra's forum, but I noticed on there everything is more professional and realistic and most of his audience is way different from yours, so it isn't that good a forum for people like me... Hope you like the idea, I think it could really be a great idea but if it's too much work you don't really have to.

Your art ROCKS!!! The way you stretch your characters till it looks like their very last muscle fibers are about to split at the seams is amazing! I've been watching your vids and I'm trying to combine your style with this artist Yoji Shinkawa, the dude that does the metal gear solid art. His art is very fluid yet the muscles he draws have a little edge to them, like the lines are somehow more jagged but yet fluid. If I can get your dynamics with his edgier definition I will be super satisfied. Keep doing your thing man great stuff!!

You have to be pretty familiar with anatomy from the skeleton on to the muscles and finer details in order to take this process through to the finish. Always be working on your life drawing skills (figure drawing). The best advice I've been given throughout my college career is to move from general concepts of what you are drawing/painting to specific. Your knowledge of the subject can carry you through it afterwards.
