Kerosene heaters are a great back up source of heat in an emergency. The recent ice storm on the east coast has more than likely prompted many people to purchase one. Today I will be assembling the Dyno-Glow Kerosene heater and explaining a few of the special features of the product. Kerosene heaters are an excellent source of heat but can be dangerous if not used properly. Be sure to properly read the instructions before operating this unit. Lordy, lordy, You, sir, are a Godsend to me. I'm also from NC (eastern) and bought this heater yesterday. I brought it home and was in tears for hours trying to figure out how to put it together. I stumbled across your video late last night. Your instructions are crystal clear and this morning after a few hours sleep, I put this thing together in no time. Thank you so much. I remember 2 big snows we had years ago that were not forecast and we were shut down with no power for at least a week or more so as you said it is best to be prepared.

Thanks easy walk through. I am in Pennsylvannia. Suppose to have a bad winter this year. I want to emergency prepare. I have actually felt the storms from the south this year. I have gotten tornados,floods,hail and the power outtages.

Yep. I don’t like winter but I know the Lord knew what he was doing when he made the seasons. Rather have snow instead of ice anytime though.

if electricity goes off for any reason, a heat pump system and lights will not work at all. An d I recall 1 * 7-day period with no electricity years ago. I got propane gas logs for the living room fireplace and keep a kerosene heater and kerosene lamps and kerosene all year round! Kerosene usually costs abut the same as regular gasoline in a nearby community near central VA (Richmond) So stock up EARLY on kerosene and unleaded gasoline while you are in Powhatan VA ! Get K-1 grade kerosene ... clear and pure and burns very clean!

After watching your video (thank you!) I filled the tank, but the fuel gauge is still showing empty. I waited over an hour for the wick to absorb the kerosene, and I can see the igniter glowing when I switch it on -- but the wick doesn't light. Any suggestions on how to fix these problems is welcome!

I’m sorry that you’re having trouble getting your heater to light. An hour does seem like enough time to soak the wick and if that’s the case, when the igniter touches it should definitely start burning. Sorry I couldn’t be much help. Thanks for watching.

@@COACHgtv8192 Thank you. I did get the heater to light using a wand lighter, but the fuel gauge is still registering on empty, when the tank is full. It's a new heater, and I've contacted the help desk on the booklet.

Crap. Im in Charlotte NC being told they are going to a rolling outage because of cold temps. Did i miss the wick installation? Im clueless.

The first time I've ever heard about a rolling outage was yesterday around 6am when my power went out. Called Duke energy and they had recording explaining that is what was happening. My power was out for at least five hours and I stay on the outskirts of Asheboro. You didn't miss the wick installation. This is my second heater like this and both came with the wick already installed. When you change the wick, you will have to break the heater down a bit further than how it comes in the box.

You're right. I don't like to suggest which type of Kerosine to use, just make sure you are using Kerosine. This is where my mention of following the directions to operate the heater come in to play. My bad, I probably could have explained that better. Hope this helps. Thanks.
