Hi Frank. I had same problem with the mother-in-laws vac, it turned out to be a faulty filter. Replaced all filters and 2 years later it still works perfectly. Not saying yours is the same but it may be worth trying your old battery again with the new filters and see if it works, if so you have got yourself a spare battery. The first filter you took out your vac splits down into 2 separate filters and the inside filter was all hard and crusty. It has started to brake up.

The bit that didn't fit is outgoing air filter. I just had to replace our filters which were clogged and resulted in the pulsating phenomenon. This is described by Dyson to be result of something stuck in the tubes. Despite cleaning and replacing the intake filter, the problem was still there. It wasn't until replacing the outgoing air filter, the problem went away. I think there's a safeguard in place which shuts down the motor if there's no sufficient air flow to prevent overheating.

Would you mind telling us what glue you were using at the end?

Is the replacement battery still working? I hear they only last a month or so?
