My Dyson Animal V6 Vacuum started pulsing on and off, starting and stopping, and I didn't know what was causing it or how to fix it so I Googled for solutions. I came across some information saying that it was because of a dirty filter but I had recently rinsed out the filter and I knew that wasn't the issue. This was the issue and it was very quick and easy to fix.

This one of the reason I like you videos, you give just practical information. Someone would panic and take it to a shop and pay a fee just to find out there was just a vacuum block from stuff in the in take. Thanks hope everyone is fine and that means you too.

Nice diagnostics! I had the same pulsing problem, but my clog was in the brush end - your video clued me in as I too saw the "clean filter" video without success. I just took the brush out (on side of brush, there's a small indentation - just use something to turn and it pops out). Then used a chopstick to clean what was the most disgusting clog ever. Works like a charm now! Thanks!

Thank you so much! I cleaned the filter and nothing, but this worked. Actually on my Dyson, it wasn't clogged with dirt but the flap in that area was stuck. I "un-stuck" it and now it works again. Life saver! Be well

I tried the washing filter after watching that video. I ended up calling Dyson and had the "main machine" replaced. That didn't help. I washed out the main canister. That helped a little. But after a minute or so it went back to pulsing. After watching THIS video, I dug in further to look for clogs. Sure enough where the "pole" meets the part that spins and touches the floor, I had a TON of hair and debris in there. After clearing that it works like brand new!!! Thank you so much!

Nice and good title description. I had cleaned the head and decided against dissassembling the power motor filter as not wanting to void the warranty... That little ridge behind the rug sweeper powerhead was fully jammed... And never found a release for that little area... And your discovery in the suction head I think has now set me free!

My Dyson was pulsing and I looked in this spot and there was no clog - no debris at all. Took the head off where it connects to the stick and that was clogged. Removed the junk and that fixed it. So, don't forget to look in both places!

Perfect - found a little bundle of furry nastiness hiding behind the inlet nozzle. I had weashed the dust filter so many times I was ewearing it to parties as a fashion item. But once I had pushed the fur ball back into the nain chamber and hooked it out, the Dyson was working just as Sir James had intended. Thank you Lucky Ferals

Great fix thank you very much, my sister was just about to jump in the car and pay some guy €60 to look at it. Just inside the nozzle you indicated I found an inch long splinter which got clogged with dog hair and caused the problem. Fixed in 30 seconds and dinner cooked for me :)

Watching the 1000 other videos on how to fix this ranging from taking them completely apart to washing the filters to simply taking them apart and putting them back together again...and FINALLY someone with some common sense telling me where to look and what to do and what type of simple tool to use. I bought this because it was simple and easy. I didn't want to become a dyson tech. Much appreciated. AND why are most of the videos British?

Thank you so much! I thought I would have to dish out for expensive repairs, or even potentially get a new unit. I was having the same pulsing issue, and noticed debris was getting caught in the intake. While pushing with a metal chopstick, there was a plastic flap that suddenly pushed forward, re-opening access to the chamber. Then I gleefully vacuumed my entire home :)

Thanks for your video and tip. It helped resolve the pulsing, as it was not the filter that some other videos suggested, that was my issue. If anyone is still having issues with pulsing, it could be that the diaphragm (located in the same area in the video where the clog was) was pushed closed. My vacuum didn’t have a lot of hair clogging the opening but it led me to find that the diaphragm piece was completely shut, thus not allowing anything through. I pushed it to the side and it ran like normal. Glad it was a quick solve!

Just watched your Pulsing Dyson video after countless "clean the filter" videos and your voice stopped me breathless. Smoky and sensuous, you led me directly to the problem in the intake orifice. [The valve that swings to trap the contents in the bin when storing it on the charger was not addressed (tiny bits of fuzz can jam it closed)], but I don't care, you had me at "I just did some research..." More.

Yep, I tried washing the filter too after seeing the other video...didn't make any difference as next to no dirt came out. Then I saw your video and thought great that must be it but when I checked the same spot you did on your cleaner mine was perfectly clean and when the stick section wasn't attached it didn't pulsate at all. It left me with one thought...there was a blockage in the stick and when I looked more closely at the bottom of the vacuum head it looked like there was cat fur clogging it a little. I pulled on a bit and about 30 cms of tangled cat fur came out! Like one giant fur ball. I have a long haired cat who is shedding his winter coat! End of problem. Thanks for the video because even though my problem wasn't quite the same as yours, it did lead me to fixing it. Happy dance!!!

The problem may not actually be the debri. In my Dyson, in the nozzle behind where you pulled the debri out there is a spring loaded door. For some reason the door was in the closed position, which I assume would be to protect the vacuum from pulling in too debris. Using a pencil as you did, I was able to push the door back to the open position, where it latched. Airflow was then uninhibited and my vacuum was fixed.

Awesome! Thank you! I cleaned the filter and it was still pulsing...until I watched this video. So annoyed, I now have a wet filter and can’t vacuum.
