Gautham was born on 25 February 1973 in Ottapalam, a town in the Palakkad district of Kerala. His father Vasudeva Menon was a Malayali and his mother Uma was Tamil. Although born in Kerala, he grew up in Anna Nagar, Chennai. He is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer and actor who predominantly works in Tamil film industry. He has also directed Telugu and Hindi films .
Many of his films have been both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, most notably his romantic films Minnale (2001), Vaaranam Aayiram (2008), Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), his cop action thrillers Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006), Yennai Arindhaal (2015) and his gangster drama Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (2022). His 2008 Tamil film, Vaaranam Aayiram won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil. Menon produces films through his film production company named Photon Kathaas. His production Thanga Meengal (2013) won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil.

Kakha Kakha's Primary success is because of Pandya's Character more than Anbu's, and I still remember watching it in DEVI, Mount Road during college days with friends and we all got drrinched after watching Night show, very nostalgic memories of old Madras days.

For some reason he always ridicule Minnale as not up to his standard or his kind of movie. But for 90s kids we loved and cherished Minnale. The college vibe, the thrill of 5 days and the disappointment and recovery, Vivek’s comedy all in all its a wholesome package.

It’s just a story of different people having different perspectives doing different things in life. There are people who do those things, why is he feeling ashamed for telling a story.

Khaka khaka sucess is not only because of villain character.many heros played IPS officer character.but this is the first ever movie shown how the career of ips officers in initial stage. Anbuselvan IPS is very close to reality.The way he speaks,walks,talks,shoots is very close to real IPS officers.
