If I was able to recover all the plane I MAY have been able to rebuild but so much was in very deep snake infested brush that a full recovery was not possible. Still missing some of the right wing, some rudder , and some fuse is still out there. However all electronic were recovered and tested perfect. Simply loss of orientation and wrong correction to try to recover.
Thanks for watching and staying up to date with Fat Guy Flies RC!
You do that by hitting that thumbs up button and subscribing to my channel! Also hit that little bell and you will be notified every time I upload a video!
God bless!!

Very sorry for a copy and paste answer but had to respond to MULTIPLE comments, I flew on a side I was not used to to to keep the sun out of my eyes and my camera precocious eyes. She even said after that me flying a pattern I am not used to may had been part of the issue and the lighting at that angle with that camo may also have been a contributing factor. At the end of the day it is still my error, not fault of a great plane and I will attempt at either a rebuild or arf revamp. Also our club does fly behind our club house since it sits in the dead center of our flying property.. However if there had been other pilots there we would have flown in the traditional position and did what we could to shade our views. Thanks for the kind words of support from the best group of viewers there are!!!

Sorry for your loss. I did the same thing at my flying field. Early morning sun made my T28 silhouette and lost orientation for a split second. Full flaps, 50% throttle . I thought I was looking at the bottom of the plane in a left banking turn, so I rolled it left, and it went belly up and down in some tall grass before the paved runway. Luckily cosmetic repair. Went up again days later and the same silhouette happened, but I continued the turn and landed safely. I asked other pilots if that sun shadow ever messes with them. They said ALL THE TIME, just remember to continue your turn as you start and you'll be fine. You flew in a direction you rarely go and that may have had a small part of the flight. Because of you, I now fly receiver only because I was abusing AutoLevel for the past 2 years and have not been really flying. Learning more every flight. I feel your pain on this one.

Hey FGFRC I was concerned because you usually don’t fly in that direction. That may have been the reason. You usually face the runway and get behind the plane for a better view. It’s terrible you crashed but it’s a reality of this hobby. Keep flying!! We appreciate your reviews.

@FatGuyFliesRC that plane isn't hard to lose orientation over I'm sure. Especially if you have a gray sky above. Years ago I was flying a camouflaged F4 Phantom and flew it in front of a tree line and I sware it disappeared. Lost sight of it and crashed unfortunately. Never bought another camouflaged plane like that lol. That's the joy of this hobby though.

Well, that's rc planes. It's because of Spektrum and Eflite that afforded me the opportunity to start flying 9 years ago. I'm maidening an Eflite F4-U Corsair Sat, weather pending. Here's how look at a crash, it's the perfect excuse to buy another plane, to dampen the sad feelings from crashing 1 that flies fine. I'm in the prop driven warbird stage right now,but the F-16 is definitely on my crash list, I mean hangar list

I flew aerial targets as a civilian contractor for the United States Army. These flights were all line of sight and orientation of the platform was the key to success. This can only be achieved by practise coupled with skill. Never allow the airframe to get beyond your control of its flight path. Easier said than done and yes I crashed because I violated these rules.

Ohhhhh Greg, and fresh from your holidays too! I wish i was there to help you find it. I had a jet at the beach & each time i went to land, dogs would chase it. Eventually i ran out of battery & it crashed in what i thought were the sand dunes. I also wanted to get the 6s battery as dangerous leaving it there. Took me until almost dark, all over the dunes to give up. Back at the car i thought i will switch on the TX & see if i could hear something…. I could hear the motor roar & the jet was so close. There it was on top of a flat tree 20 yards from the car. Glided in over the surf life saving club & landed with hardly a scratch. !😮 sorry this was not the case for you bro!🪃🦘🇦🇺

Bummer. That's one reason I put Spektrum AS3X/SAFE receivers in all of my EDF's. Military jets are harder to see and sometimes difficult to fly. I've been using Spektrum's gyros for several years and I'm totally comfortable with making the maiden flight in SAFE mode. I've been flying RC for 61 years, but my eyes aren't what they used to be. If I can see the plane, I can fly it, but sometimes EDF's are tough to see. They can also require quick reflexes..

So, so sorry to see this happen. My "like is for support- never like to see anyone crash. Watching on my TV it seems you were level on takeoff and then always in a right bank of varying degrees until a hard right bank "correction"? I still sometime question orientation with my trainer planes- but I have plenty of time to flip it into SAFE/ Self Leveling and sort it out. You don't have the time with a jet, I imagine. You hit a rough week- better days ahead Greg.

Oh man, I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing orientation is the worst that could happen to any of us, especially while flying a fast jet. That happened to me on the maiden flight of my Avanti S V2, but luckily for me, in the end I managed to save her and brought it back for a safe landing. For that reason, now I have SAFE programmed in all my planes. I don't use it for flying them but for peace of mind if a situation like this ever arises. Did your plane have SAFE enabled?... Again, I'm really sorry for your loss 😞 It was a beautiful plane...😞 I hope that you feel better after having Covid-19. Unfortunately, this is the dark side of our hobby, and it really sucks when the RC gods claim a sacrifice... Have a great rest of your day 👍🏾 Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 🌵 🌵👍🏾🇵🇷 Like#59

Thank you very much for your response to my comment, my friend. I don't know if you saw the video of my F16 Thunderbirds crash, but I lost it due to my radio's RF module failing seconds after takeoff. My plane was severely damaged, and at the moment, I thought that maybe if I got the ARF plus, I would be able to get it back in the air in no time. When I got home and started taking a look at the project I was about to engage in, I immediately changed my mind and decided to get another BNF instead. There were like a million cable connectors all tightly packed into a very small space, and I wasn't going to have the necessary patience to deal with it. Having big hands also won't help when you need to deal with handling all those tiny cable connectors in such a small space. For all that, I highly recommend you to get a BNF version instead and use the parts you salvaged from the wreck as spare parts for the new one. One more thing, the 80mm Thunderbirds version comes with an 8-channel receiver with flaperons already preprogrammed, SAFE select, and reverse thrust for about the same price. Good luck with whichever route you decide to take. Have a great day, my friend. Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 🌵 😊👍🏾🌵🇵🇷 P.S.

Hey, that´s shit. I was waiting for the crash taking off and hoping that you could rebuilt her. But When you got into high and speed I was really scary. It was like the hardest crash one could have. I have this orientation problems too but I´m more like a beginner. After many crashes I was so nervous that my brain was almost wanting to tell me I don´t know orientation. But now knowing better my planes I have more confidence. Still my little Futura 64 on 6S like to stall on turns and if the sun is directly into my eyes it´s dificult to say in which direction she is rolling. With a new plane you don´t know, maybe not ideal light AND a military scheme/color it´s really hard to keep her tracking perfectly. Also she was very fast. Keep looking forward and rewarding you with other flights! Look the positive site, you were ill but now 100% healthy, just foam loss... Best regards from south east Bavaria, Grafing bei München

Sadly this kind of stuff happens. Can I ask why you were flying facing the pits ? That's a huge No No at every field I've flown at. You basically crashed behind the clubhouse building and parking lot.

Our field is unique in that it is in the dead center of the property and we have established patterns on both sides. And I was the only pilot there.

That hurts. As bad as many crashes are worse still is having the plane fly away from you never to be seen again. No parts to recover/salvage to recoup some of the loss. [Flay-aways have happened to me 3 times. On one it was found by a property owner about 3-4 miles from property and because I had it labeled I got a call and got the plane back.]

@@FatGuyFliesRC That's really too bad. From my experience most people I've met, that are not in the hobby, are friendly towards fixed wing Pilots and their planes. I do see some hostility towards "drones" and the people piloting them.

I flew mine at our club meeting last night. Its so easy to lose orientation with this plane in an evening sky. I lost it twice during one flight, had to wing rock it to figure out where I was. Unfortunate for sure, sorry, always tough when its not fixable. you'll find another used one, or go the ARF plus route sometime. Its a joy to fly. kzfaq.info1EfLK9XKYcc
