@@mattwo7 Let me comment something weird of a manga i read: An heroic male nudist (of course the genitals being censored) with a god complex managing to basically summon a giant ghost version of himself (also nude), using versions of himself as his own weapons (also nude) vs an frankenstein giant made out of the corpses of gods..... MEANWHILE, the protagonist was unlocking the equivalent of his world's Ultra Instinct, (basically recreating that scene from JLU of Flash VS Brainiac and Luthor Fusion) thanks to his fetish. And with said power, was able to beat the crap out of an evil necromancer who wanted to conquer the multiverse (By the way, the manga is "The Legendary Hero is Dead")

Not to mention the other guy was using *his* punch ghost to hit the steamroller from above so it'd hurt more.

Some minor research I did seems to point to the idea that the book was perhaps cancelled simply because it wasn't what readers were all that interested in at the time. It is entirely possible, as some mangaka had works that failed in the late odds that then went on to find success with their immediate next work. As a side thing, I also decided to check out some of the releases of Shounen Jump were at the time. At a glance: - Naruto was seeing the opening parts of the final confrontation against Madara and Obito - Bleach was expositing about Yhwach's character and how he relates to the cast in any way - One Piece was seeing the main Hero vs. Villain battles of Dressarosa - One Punch man was seeing the S Class Heroes contend with the Dark Matter Thieves Assuming that I managed to get the dates right for these (January of 2014), then it would make sense that the mood and flavor of the time would make a book like E-Robot not blend in the best. Mind you, the quality of the book could also have attested to this, but this lineup alone tells me that people's attentions might have been stuck elsewhere at the moment.

@@GambeTama Thats fair, but as a Jump reader myself, they usually try to have a little bit of everything at the magazine. So you have all your battle series, usually one or 2 sports series, and usually some romantic comedy series.

@@SharinganVizard07 It's kind of sad too, since the success of books like Spy X Family and some early Dr Stone actually had paved the way for more works outside of battle series to take hold. They still have a solid place mind, but I have read about how more authors are becoming confident in trying to propose new things. Perhaps if this had come out even two years later, it would have worked out better?

@@SharinganVizard07 They've tried to move away from the kind of ecchi stuff like this, relegating such series to Jump +, which I suppose makes sense in terms of brand recognition. Ayakashi Triangle was the first major victim of that, ran for about 80+ chapters, then 2 chapters didn't get released officially because...some loli content as I recall. Then shifted to Jump + and Shonen Jump dropped it like a sack of potatoes, though you can read chapters 1-88 at least, minus 74 and 75. Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs was the last one I recall. And I had to give up trying to collect it, similar to how I'm unlikely to be getting To-LOVE-Ru or Ayakashi Triangle by the author of Black Cat,which I have the entire series of. Manga's just gotten more expensive overall, even Viz had to bump up prices since about 2010~

New headcannon - he was hit by the truck and everything after that is an Isekai - the world he woke up in was just very similar to the one he left, but with more super powered sex robots.

I mean, there's probably a manga out there about a guy being targeted by some gynoid for a similar notion, but I mostly remember one that I've only seen the anime for. Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan Guy discovers key to immortality, though it involves his weird loli fetish. And so God sends angels to kill him before he makes that discovery to protect the future. And they technically do kill him, but they can also resurrect him with a magic phrase anyway, so it becomes a weird romcom harem, given more angels are sent. Just...very weird, but amusing in a way

Hmm, is this the one of those that's on the colony of only male clones, the one that also happens to be used a body double for a cast of crooks to get one over on a baseball mafia, OR the one that also has inside her the power to blow up entire planets? Those are all legit things, BTW. Marionette's being the first, and probably best of them. If you haven't ever heard or read them, they are an interesting little story about why maybe having some back ups of the crews DNA on file might be a good idea.

Those names I remember, and it might have been a short during one of those. All I remember is it was a robot he kissed, and she was 'fully functional' and then she went boom and we shifted to space and the planet blew up.

@@NitwitsWorld Plus we have manga that got cancelled after their anime, though the one I'm thinking of wasn't cancelled until 2021, 5 years after the anime. And I have all the English volumes, I think. Act-age was cancelled BEFORE the anime even got off the ground beyond being greenlit, writer did inappropriate touching to a middle schooler. Which is awkward when it was a writer artist duo.

@@DarkOverlord96 I recall the Kishimoto went on after Naruto to make a story about cyberpunk cowboys, and it went absolutely nowhere, which was partly the reason why he wound up on as the writer on Boruto. Sometimes a book just doesn't take, a sad but true lesson about the harshness of the media market.

At least they're being better about it now, I think the earliest cancellation we got recently was around 18-20 chapters. They're trying to be nicer, but only by degrees

But it is also fair to say that mainstream Marvel and DC are the comics that you will find in ANY store that sells comics whereas smaller titles are getting harder and harder to source due to the demise of the comic book store from our streets. Meh, I miss the old days of KZfaq, I liked all the plot stuff, Sure discussions can be nice, but it can also be boring if that's all there is. After all, anyone can talk about their opinions, so I like those that try to go beyond that and stand out from the crowd with other elements to their reviews like characters or skits and stuff. Don't get me wrong, I still love Linkara's videos, he's very funny, but I miss the older days when the storylines were more integrated into the reviews and when his other characters made more regular appearances, I love 90s Kid, Dr. Linksano, Poyo, Harvey, Ninja Style Dancer, and Snow Flame, so I miss not see them as much, heck a video that does feature them will usually entertain me more. Luckily, this era's not completely gone, we've got Database Rangers Power Reviews which does analytical storytelling, aka, storytelling through the review of an existing product, we're even if he's getting attacked or in the middle of a fight he still talks about the episode even if he gets interrupted by getting punched. Or Mandjtv with the skits he does in his videos with his characters of Grnut Boy and Team Sky, they add more to the experience of what would otherwise be a still fun but simple video. Heck, I don't know if it's okay to bring this up since Linkara left Channel Awesome, but I still watch the Nostalgia Critic because I still think he and his crew are funny with what they do with their reviews and plots, plus I appreciate how they still get videos out on the same day every week, I appreciate regular video upload schedules so I can properly schedule time in the day to watch it and not be caught off guard by a surprise upload that interrupts what I had planned for the day. Again, nothing against Linkara I still greatly enjoy his work and have nothing but respect for him, but I do wish his upload schedule was a bit better and more consistent these days, we still haven't gotten to that Teen Titans Review he skipped over three years ago.

I also laughed at the snarky remark: "So like... if we showed actual porn to these people, would it make their hearts explode?" That's something I can legit see happening in an ecchi manga like this.
