The O2 content of either a nutrient solution or the rooting medium will affect the rate of root activity and function, particularly the rate of water and nutrient element uptake.
One of the major reasons that some NFT systems fail is due to the inability of the operating system to maintain sufficient O2 in the nutrient solution.
Temperature of the nutrient solution should be in the range of 18 to 26 degrees Celsius.
Aquarium heaters can be used to warm the nutrient solution in the winter, and look for "chillers" to cool the solution in the summer if high temperature becomes a problem.
