I finish up my vintage RC10 Team Car Rebuild and ask viewers to decide what setup to put in it. Brushed Motor v. Brushless Motor? Also, to choose which body will go on the buggy.

I would go for brushed for the proper vintage feel.

Can still be damn quick, but won't break the transmission! 👍

Nice video - thanks for sharing. Careful w/ the hydrogen peroxide. It doesn't actually 'reverse' the yellowing - in layman's terms the ‘free radicals’ that come about over time from exposure to UV and oxidation are hidden by bonding with o2/hydrogen atoms. You can overdue it and bleach the parts - I've seen another RC Retro video where the RC10 parts were totally bleached white. Those nylon parts were never white - they were yellowish when new in 1984. Also, the material will become a bit more brittle although the nylon and reinforced plastics on RC10 and other RC cars are generally fine (try doing it with Lego and you'll find the ABS plastic gets more brittle and squeaky). Just don't overdue it.

Awesome video. I'm definitely following because I just bought a gold pan RC-10 and want to rebuild it to race again like I did 30 years ago. I'm wanting to do the brushless set up for mine so I'd like to see you do brushless so I can see how it's done.. Thanks for the great video

Brushed in terms of vintage feel or brushless in terms of more speed... go for what your heart calls for. IMHO... i would go brushlsss.

10.5 Brushless man. I just installed my old Novak GTB with a Velocity 10.5 brushless in my RC10CE. It runs so great! Not stupid fast but a heck of a lot more fun than the old stock 27 turn brushed days LOL. Steers way sharper than my new Kyosho Ultima re-relase! (I've got to take out that 3k diff fluid that I put in the Ultima diff!!!)

I popped so many brake mosfets on those Novak T4’s back in the day at one point I had 2 of them being used just on my RC10L one on or the other on the car the other being shipped to Novak for repair meanwhile my JRx2 was constantly without an ESC I probably could have bought a T1X with what I spent on shipping & labor the second generation Novak ESC’s like the Novak 410 M5 were a much better ESC I had less issues with those. That T4 looks like a refurbished one from Novak that’s how they used to come back to me at least while I still used a Tamiya connector I say mild Brushless system 13.5/17.5 and Viper body 🍺😎👍🏽

Hey buddy! I know this is a month ago posted. But if you want that vintage look on new white plastic pieces, put it in some brewed coffee or espresso. Leave it and check on it every 15 minutes and you’ll see it’ll soon take on that bone colour.

Brushless and the viper body. Be careful with the new stealth case. .the moulds had some issues on the rere cases as you probably know from the worlds car.

As far as I remember those plastic/ nylon parts have never been 100% white 🤔 Greetings from Germany
@RCRetro4 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. The plastics on the RC10 were more of an off-white (light cream). However, over time this plastic tends to take on a yellowish color becasue the platic oxidizes. This happens on a lot of light colored plastic items. I tried the peroxide bath on one of my other RC10s and it took the yellow color out of the plastic. While the plastic looks white now on camera there is still a faint cream color to it, close to the original. At least thats from my personal experience. Thanks for the comment. I hope you are well and staying safe during these crazy times. Be well and take care.

Where in the fuck can I find spare parts for an original rc10? I’d like to have some spares in case I break anything 😅😅😅 That said people are asking 150$ for the transmission and 50$ for front arms... I’d like to find some spare transmission gears and arms for sure. Any help would be great
@RCRetro3 жыл бұрын
there is a facebook group called RC10 Chop Shop or something like that. Its run by a guy named Shawn. He has tons of spares but also charges a good amount. You can hunt on eBay or go directly to him through his facebook group and get what you need. I've purchased 2 stealth transmissions from him in the past. One was $75 and the other was a mint one at $100. Prices on RC10's, whole car and parts are ridiculous now though. Good luck.
@V8chump3 жыл бұрын
@@RCRetro Are there any other transmissions people put on them? Saw someone put a “traxxas transmission” on one, looked like maybe a 2wd rustler but of course he didn’t say. My dad got the rc10 from a guy he worked with in a box full of parts so and the kid painted all the plastics so it’s not gonna be shelf quality pristine either way
