E150 Steering Shaft Seal Replacement: Ford Econoline E150 Steering Box

Күн бұрынThis time at the Quick Speed Shop I'm going to show you a quick way to change your leaking upper seal on your Ford Econoline steering box. The removal is fairly easy if you have basic hand tool and a drill. I also show how to remove the pitman arm, but to remove the lower seal the box needs to be disassembled, which I don't do in this video.

Any idea on why my steering wheel has a crunchy feel to it when turning it after replacing the rag joint? Thanks for your time

Try spraying lubrication in the end of the column where the steering shaft goes in. The bushing is probably dried out.

Why don't you just buy a new box?

This box is just for demonstration. New ones cost over $200. The box I fixed with my $17 seal kit only has 48k on it. No need to replace.
