I've not taken the IELTS test, but from the instructions and the nature of the test, I think it's a FAKE test because it puts you in challenging and a stressful status, unlike the normal status of practicing the English language, you pay money and you are limited to a tight period of time. The listening test for example is fake because, unlike most real situations, you have to listen, read and write at the same time. Also, mostly in live situations, you communicate with people face-to-face and you can predict some words from their gestures and body language. In addition, many times you lose focus for a moment and ask to repeat what has been already said. Sorry, but I think the main aim of this test is to collect money.

Ive been a native English speaker from birth, studied in the English stream under the British syllabus at school, and later, a UK degree. .unfortunately im from a 3rd world country and this means i had to take ielts. .you are spot on. The exam is not indicative of a persons ability to grasp english, in an everyday setting incollege or at work. Ielts is designed to be a money grabber. Many people fail at their first attempt, so there are retakes Ielts teachers earn a ton of money conducting classes. Its all a money grab. Surely an SOP and a face to face interview with immigration/ college admissions would help determine the candidates proficiency

spot on i ve just started studying yesterday and started with the reading it has nothing to do with english it is more about reading books. does not matter if it is english or my native language. i am going to make mistake for both for sure.

Is UKVI ielts harder than the normal one?

@@sarahsaifi8477 No it is not. The normal IELTS and UKVI only have administrative difference. E.g. The UKVI tests have limited candidates giving exam in a room (30-40) and all tests are recorded. As far as the tests and questions are concerned, there is no difference in that

@@sarahsaifi8477 No problem. Since the test has to be recorded, 99% of times it is on a video call, with an Indian on the other side. My examiner was a lady from Hyderabad.

I have learnt in several tutorials that it is best to read the questions first, but this is a new one. She suggested that we skim through the passage before starting the questions.

I have practiced both strategies that you have mentioned and I do best when I read the questions first. I would advise you try them both and do which one suits you on your exam day.

I think it depends on the text, sometimes this strategy works in some texts but sometimes doesnt work

The booklet DOESNT WORK on iPad Pro, it’s not even a pdf, it’s just the 1st page, no paragraph 6. I was able to download it only on my iPhone.

@@varunVk04First of all don't worry, you can easily achieve overall above 7 in 17 days. My first tip is to stop doing practice tests to improve your score, I did this mistake of just doing mock tests but my score wasn't improving so I started seeing videos about it, and then I learnt i need to change my technique for solving questions, there are plenty of videos that teach you how to solve a particular type of question. Try to practice technique and if you are not getting good score in a particular section, try doing it in parts, for example do all the 3 passage of reading separately without time limit, just focusing on the method and getting the right answer, once you master the methods you will be able to achieve overall score.
