In all honesty Halo 4 wasn't terrible. Yes, compared to Bungie's Halo games it was different and not as good in several aspects, but Halo 4 imo did have an intriguing multiplayer, and the story was actually well thought out. While Bungie wanted players to always be in the dark, that feeling of not knowing who the Chief was and making the story more about overcoming amazing odds, 343 wanted to dive into John as a person. If you didn't read the books then after three games you'd know more of the Arbiters motivations than John's. So I applaud 343 for fleshing out the character and making him feel more Human. Was it done perfectly? No. Everyone expected it to be like Bungie's games, so it's not seen as highly. But on its own it is still a good game in its own right and brings a very deep story involving the Forerunners and how everything we thought we knew was changed. But I can say that nothing will top Bungie's marketing campaign. Who ever was the lead on those projects deserves a fucking medal of honor. I get chills from Halo 3 and Halo 2 ads, and Halo CE was no slouch either considering its time.

My Main Issues with Halo 4 Only problem with the idea of humanizing chief was they overdid it. I think he does need more character, but I miss when he mostly talked when necessary, and focused on his mission no matter the situation, instead of being a melodramatic man in a super suit crying over Cortana. I could understand him being hurt by her death, but i think it still wouldn’t phase him as a soldier and he’d move on quickly. Not have acid trip hallucinations of Cortana and go against orders. And they tried to make a love story with him and Cortana, just no their relationship in Bungie’s games was perfect. What bothered me the most was trying to make the Chief’s story into a dramatic TV serial. Next, remnants of the Covenant are already trying to start fighting again just 4 years after a war that crippled everyone so bad, nobody was in any condition to fight for a long time. It would’ve made more sense if the splinter groups still existed following their goals, but tried to avoid war since nobody’s ready yet. It should’ve been mostly the Prometheans who were trying to wipe out the Covenant and Humans, so they’d have to sorta work together again. But nope, everyone’s militaries are crippled, planets are wastelands, and suddenly everyone is fighting again. Lastly the Forerunners no longer being ancient humans adds to the Covenant’s irony, it was already set up to be that way so dialogues from people like 343 Guilty Spark make no sense. It literally makes no sense for Humans to be called “reclaimers” yet all they’re really reclaiming is another civilization’s remains, plus they were at war. You’d think they’d prevent Humans from accessing their tech, but no. It also just seemed more interesting to imagine that places we’ve been like the Halo rings and the Ark, are all of Humanity’s accomplishments, and they’re here to retake it. Also finding a way around their own logic by defeating the Flood without using the Rings. It just would’ve been better if they never did that. Overall though despite the lore breaks and everything, Halo 4 wasn’t really that bad, just isn’t a very good Halo game. It’s more like a high budget, high grossing fan fiction.

I remember live streaming this. E3 2011 was pretty disappointing having Kinect forced down my throat. Then I saw this - and I had goosebumps, the show ended and I was sat mouth open, feeling cold and amazed! THAT - is how you do reveal trailers. Such powerful nostalgic emotions

xJumPeRJumPzZ Dude don't assume. I played the hell out of Halo: CE and Halo 2 on the original Xbox. I was there for the midnight release of Halo 3. And when i beat it on Legendary difficulty, i saw the clip that leads into Halo 4. and even as i played through ODST, Reach, and CE Anniversary. I still wondered what the hell the legendary ending meant. Halo 4 was planned from the start and i stand by it. the Character development was needed and I'm glad we finally got it. ...... bitch!

Angel Toribio I don't think Halo 4 was Awful, I mean come on. Just because it wasnt as good as Bungie's games, doesnt make it AWFUL at all. I think your just not willing to embrace change XJumP. You should really consider actually giving 343 a chance, and allowing them to tell the stories they wanna tell instead of immediately giving up on them because they failed in some ways on there first game. Had halo 4 been the third game 343 had made in there sequel, then you can make a valid argument.

I remember how hyped I was after watching this trailer... After playing it though.. something changed... I didn’t know what it was at first...multiplayer was different and I still ended up going back to reach for custom games. The new enemies were cool, but the music.. ohh god the music.. it definitely felt off. Halo 5 was nail in the coffin, I stopped player halo after that. I had fun playing the campaign but it also felt off.. I only played the campaign once or twice and that was that.
