That’s some beautiful and insanely satisfying metal fabbing! I was sad the episode was so short hahahaha; it just went by so fast! Lifting up rocks for them crabs: I was too comfortable with my last job. Why would I leave? I was a senior position, well-respected, it was fun… But I realized I was stagnating professionally. The position didn’t offer me new skills nor challenged my brain. My buddy for years, have been pestering me to join his massive project that was doing cutting-edge stuff with the US Navy. He and his colleagues are ULTRA smart. There’s no way they’ll hire me. I’m just a regular engineer who doesn’t know anything… He insisted I’ll be ok. I did the interviews just to appease him. After 5 grueling interviews that were like a final exam of multiple engineering classes, they apparently liked me a lot. They offered double my salary. So I left my position of 15 years to make that jump. Now I’m surrounded by insanely driven and smart people as we engineer game-changing technologies. Every day is a new challenge, and everyday I’m forced to pick up more rocks to find more crabs. I learned that no one should ever sell themselves short, and talk themselves into a corner of comfort. Getting outside of that comfort zone, realizing I’m actually an ok engineer and not a shitty one, and forcing myself to be surrounded by people better than I am is making me one step closer to be a better engineer everyday. It’s probably the reason why I was so drawn to your work. People who push themselves like this to create incredible things is amazing to me. You inspire me to continue challenging myself, and your little saying is just too cool of a story not to share. I’m so glad you shared your rocks and crabs story to us, and I hope many people view your channel. Thank you man :).

Fuck me this is an amazing comment! And an amazing outcome as well! It’s still kinda crazy that I’m getting as many views as I am with such an awesome global audience. Can’t wait to see where this channel takes me and hopefully in the future it’s to a bar with some beers and some stories with subscribers like yourself. Keep lifting those rocks!

This is the greatest video project on KZfaq. I am looking forward to seeing it complete, when I will open a cold can of beer and toast your achievement. When you think about it, making an entire panel is really very impressive! Most folks can't even put oil in their engines, so puts everything in perspective....

Hahaha I hadn’t thought about it that way. Thanks for the kind words, it’s comments like this that really motivate me. I think there will be many a cans of beer opened when I finish this project.

I now know why I woke up at 3am. In a e30 there’s a vent pipe and tank for the fuel tank in that right rear wheel arch you may need to put back in . With the rear shocks you could put a bolt through the top and weld it in so you can get to the nut from the underside to remove the shock . Rolls Royce have the same issue and you have to remove the rear seats and parcel shelf to get the bolts . Hope this helps

I’ve been looking at putting a fuel vapour canister out of a different car to make it fit. Been thinking about making a service hatch in the Ute wheel arches but I’ll have a look at welding in a thread instead.

3M speedglas with adflo unit would be best bet imo, very expensive but PAPR is well worth the investment to protect your lungs very comfy functional headgear with lots of adjustment, true colour and you can get them with inbuilt grinding faceshield if you're not interested in PAPR Lincoln Viking 3350 is a good call and not unreasonably priced

I’ve used that whole setup before and it really was a great setup. Looked at reviews for the ESAB and so far I’m pretty happy with it and can also add an air filtration system later on down the track.

lifting rocks finding crabs🦀 Recently, I decided to swap the m57tu2 engine from my e83 X3 into my e82 1 series coupe. It's been quite the journey, involving donoring a 3rd car (e90 )even went ahead and switched gearboxes from auto to manual. Still a bit of work ahead, but I'm getting closer to the finish line. Persistence pays off, right?"

I'm about to lift a huge rock as I cut the rust from my Infiniti and weld in some patches, never welded with gas before just my crappy little mig!
@blacknightcreations
@blacknightcreations 4 ай бұрын
If you can use gas with your welder I would strongly recommend it, grab some sheet steel and do a bunch of practice welds. You’ve got this, it isn’t as hard as you think, you’ll be done before you know it
