Wow! That bed has a 0.4mm deviation from the highest to lowest point. That seems not very flat at all (especially if you're printing with 0.1, or even 0.2mm layer heights), but I guess that's not surprising for a PCB bed. Does RRF have some form of mesh leveling?

So no thermal fuse is needed? Seems like the second m3 hole was intended for this?

Wouldn‘t it be better to use a cable that is made for cable chains instead of theses wires? I am a little concerned that wires could break after a while. Great video anyway! Thumbs up!

You are certainly right! Of course it is a good idea to use special cables that are suitable for drag chains. And these are not much more expensive than normal cables. But IMHO, the number of movements in the drag chain during normal use is negligible (only Z). And after long use, e.g. after one year or so, you should take a critical look at the cables (and move on to the special ones...). Time will tell 😬 Thank you for bringing that up 👍

Great video. What do you think about a heat sink for the SSR? I know for the 240v version the amps are low but the 120v that I have uses 7a. Do you think it is necessary?
@ReneJurack3 жыл бұрын
It‘s not needed if you do use a zero-crossing SSR. The moment the SSR switches on or of is always timed so that the AC is at „just zero“ power that moment. That’s why there is no energy to switch which means no heat is created.

Ok good to know. One more question if you don’t mind. Is mounting the ground wire to the frame of the power supply a generally accepted practice? Just as safe and effective as mounting the the ground terminal?
@ReneJurack3 жыл бұрын
@@lukekuhner6230 Attention! Please make a clear distinction between „protective earth“ connection and „neutral“ connection. There is no "Ground" in the case of mains voltage.

6:48.. Use 3mm bolt, 2 star washers and a flat washer... BUZZ!! Where the heck do I get these? Not included with heated bed, not in any other package I can find.. Not in the big parts bag.. This is one of the many issues I've had with putting this thing together.. I think your statement is right at the beginning: Ignore the idiot instructions that are so horribly badly written, and go to the Wiki, because these guys just shipped you random bags of stuff and you have to figure it out... Pulling a 3MM bolt out of my supplies... Not the first part that seems to be missing...
