Removing the differential from a BMW E46 M3 can be a tricky job, but it's doable with the right tools and patience. First, you'll need to drain the differential fluid, then remove the driveshafts, flange bolts. Inverted torx are the fasteners used by the manufacturer so you will need a set. If you can get the wrenches as well that would be a big plus. Make sure you have the right tools, such as a torque wrench, a socket set, and a transmission jack to support it. It is not extremely heavy but it is also not light. Be sure to keep the bolts and other components organized as you go.
