The second time I listened to this interview I got a lot more out of it. The disparity between capital investment of a lithium hydroxide refinery in China to the US should really be ringing alarm bells. However, the real demand is for Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries LFP. Why muck about if you claim you have the expertise then build a refinery to convert the lithium chloride to lithium carbonate. This is what Vulcan must achieve in Germany else there is no lithium carbonate being produced in Europe. Too many unanswered questions in the entire supply chain and again I go back to Albemarle and conclude they are really dragging the chain. Too many vested interests in maintaining the $2 trillion US/Canada Oil and Gas Industry is hurting the development of green technologies. Thanks for the great questions in the interview.

Imo eventually LFP cells will be made in US and milei will get FTA with US. If those 2 things happen, i can see why Arcadium would focus on hard rock conversion in quebec rather than expanding NC conversion right now. Could then sell Argentina carbonate directly and use hard rock for hydroxide.
