Why is a AAA game studio just now "assembling a team" to deal with bugs and player concerns 10 years into a game's lifespan?

Still think the "apology" is smoke and mirrors. "Look! Were listening," followed by continuing doing what EA always does. Game has been out 10 years. Too little, too late for me. I hope they do keep their promises for those who haven't given up on them.

The pathetic part is, if you know anything about modding the game you know how insanely easy the majority of these "fixes" they're rolling out are. Like waffles being on the restaurant menus and campfires causing less fires takes literal seconds to "fix". They should've done this stuff years ago, and they're most likely only finally doing these simple fixes now to pad the list to make it look like they're doing more than they're actually doing.

Hard to believe them at this point. They always make empty promises. They always say they will do something, they do one or two things , and then nothing..crickets.

Answers HQ is nothing more than a virtual empty paper bag to scream into when you get angry.

The competing simulation games like Life By You are getting closer to release and EA is starting to worry that our dollars are going to go to the competitors and not to them.

So some years ago, like in the first couple years of Sims 4, I actually did submit a report on Answers HQ and I got through the whole form and I did get a response. They said my problem was a mod. I said I don't have any mods, which I didn't. They responded again saying it was a mod. I responded, how could it be a mod when I have no mods? No further response. Lesson learned, didn't submit a report again. For a while I kept getting others doing the "me too" button. Many years later it was on one of the laundry list fixes. How could that be? It was a mod! That I didn't have. Again, lesson learned. There was also the incident where the rocket ship was glitched and the owner of the ship couldn't build it, they could build on it after it was started but couldn't do the initial build. A modder created a fix and the post referred people to that fix instead of them fixing it!!! Again, lesson learned. People have stopped going to them to fix things because they DON'T.

There are packs I theoretically really want but I am not in the habit of buying a sweater with 1 arm, hoping the seamstress will come to my home and add the other one later. If they actually get stuff working again they might be getting some of my money again.

Appart from the "normal" bugs I have, a new one yesterday: i present to you, the double musics ! The loading music doesn't stop once you play and overlap with the buy mode. Then, BOTH of the music plays in live mode. GORGEOUS!

They also forget the Grow together is way too annoying, sims won't do anything or stop what they're doing just to "watch the infant" or "watch baby" and doing nothing. Queues don't work. You ask them to stop an interaction and they keep doing it anyway, even when it's being crossed or it disappear from the queue (resetting sim is needed and sometimes the sim is glitched out that doesn't move... one basically needs to "travel" elsewhere to unglitch the sim). I think I had the same issue with the Answering HQ feature... but EA won't be the 1st. I had the automatically response of "we will see the issue in the next 72hrs" and checked and was marked as solved, because of that automatic email (I cannot remember what company was). I think even if we sent the issues and address them, some companies will go around it. Other companies don't have a form right away and one needs to spend like 30 minutes going in circles, until finally find it and then cannot submit anything, because your issue is not listed or something. The frustration... I might start sending the Answering HQ every single time I found something. Thank goodness I record and post them, so I have the evidence.

One of the MAJOR issues that has been driving me crazy is the constant _"check on/pick up/ Put down baby"_ interaction that randomly pops up and cancels *every other interaction* in the queue whenever said baby is doing NOTHING. Or like when you put the baby to bed(especially if the bed is a crib) and it cries because it is *tired* and the parent decides to *remove the baby from the bed just to put it on the floor.* Or when you're trying to get the baby to eat and it cries because it's hungry and the parent - *instead of giving the baby food* - decides to *take it out of the high chair* to ask "what's wrong" *while the baby is SECONDS away from being whisked away.* Oh and another issue is the constant eating everywhere that *isn't the kitchen* and then leaving the dirty dishes everywhere, and throwing bottles and diapers everywhere. It is so INFURIATING. These issues have been here FOR YEARS, and suuuuure there are modders who have fixed them (bless their hearts) BUT the game Shouldn't HAVE to rely on modders to be playable! _(or atleast pay the modders for doing your job for you EA)_ *Also I "LOVE" how their list didn't adress any of the BASEGAME issues, only packs*

I don't trust this statement, and I find it hard to believe someone actually does, like how naive can someone be. The Sims Team is like a toxic boyfriend (that should be your ex at this point), who ruins every special occasion by doing something disappointing and then tells you he's not going to do it again. Some of us broke up with that ex already....

It took them a long time to finally acknowledge that the Game has been facing numerous issues over the years, and that people weren't just complaining for no reason. I remember saying that the only thing that could reignite my interest in the game was if they focused on fixing bugs instead of releasing new content. But, of course, EA's greed would prevents that from happening. It's still good to hear that they now have a dedicated team, but the real test will be if they actually follow through on their promise. I'm not going to pretend that it's enough to forgive them for the state of the game, though. This should have been addressed much sooner.

Did they ever fix the roommate bug that came with University? They wouldn't take care of their own needs for no reason and then angrily move out. I reported it but years later it still wasn't fixed. That's the one that made me rage quit and never look back.

I work in tech as kinda like a customer journey analyst, and I read feedback from people and it's one of my favourite parts of the job. Usually what happens is we'll read/analyse them all and topicalise them then prioritize them against other issues. Also developers in the world I live in are temp/contracted staff who come in and do their fix then roll off. But I'd have thought a gaming team would have full time developers. I'd have a whale of a time being a customer journey analyst and experience designer for the Sims lmao 😅

I don't think this is something that can be dissolved.. no one is going to support their weird kits , most comments on anything thats promoted is shut down. I really would like them to fix the "animals dont age" setting. It literally does nothing. All my cute baby chickens all fricking die, and it's so upsetting.

The island living issue they are fixing has been there since island living launched. My mermaid sim has been stuck on the career task since I got the game. I just looked it up.. it's been out for almost 5 years.. why I've stopped buying packs and playing sims basically all together and I've been playing since the original sims.

Small note on "technical debt" from a Computer Person: it's not so much referring to the employees being paid to fix the game post release , but rather decisions they made now coming back to bite them in the bum. For example, they chose to not have an open world and that became the basis for future decisions. Since so many aspects of the game are built with a closed world in mind, this issue has accumulated a "debt", in that it gets harder and harder to "repay" (=put an open world into the game). It's like building a lil cabin onto some sand and then over time just adding more and more levels to it, hastily patching as you go. At some point it just becomes an absolute pain to add or fix anything in this mess.

Tbh even if they suddenely decided to literally fix every broken pack, especially dine out and the wedding pack it would still likely be too little too late for some of us. I've not spent a penny on any Sims 4 or EA games in since cottage living and I don't think I'll be easily persuaded back.

Probably will just result in nuked mods and new, different bugs.

I have had the issues with the Henford On Bagley fairs. Whenever I join with either a chicken, eggs, or whatever product/animal, they DISAPPEAR after the fair is over. They are not in my inventory of my sims and not in my family inventory either! I had obsedian milk being thrown into oblivion that way😢😢

The thing with Sims 4 is that it isn't a fun but rather broken game, it's just rather broken, bad one. Gameplay is so important and it just lacks it.

They released a completely broken and lacking base game and continue to release broken and lacking packs; I don’t have any confidence in their “fixes” and, like you said, they’re not even addressing the core issues in their laundry list

Here’s my opinion. Your other video really opened my eyes. The whole thing about spaghetti coding. I feel like actually no matter how much time they put into a pack, it’s going to have bugs because of how many packs there are and continue to be. Sims 4 will never be any different with new packs.

I would like to believe that I have helped with them addressing this because when they gave me a survey about if I liked how the game started up I wrote a long rant about how the should fix their broken game and stop being greedy 🤭

Honestly just waiting for inzoi at this point. The inzoi team seems to really care about our wishes and concerns and they’re super active in the discord which is just awesome and makes things so much easier instead of whatever stupid HQ website thing the Sims has.

They might fear the upcoming competition or there might be a plummet in sales, let's hope they actually stay true to their words.

For Gallery fixes, I hope they make it so filtering by pack ACTUALLY works. Because the way it is now, if you only have Seasons and try to filter it out by pack, you'll get every build that has Seasons in it, still including builds using packs that you DON'T have. It's pretty much useless as someone who only has a couple packs, so I can only ever get base game stuff off the Gallery. 😭

maybe these past couple sales didn't go so well...perhaps many simmers refused to buy anything even when on sale because of the amount of bugs...perhaps that's why they issued this statement. Personally I think this is still about money, not about their customers. We'll see what happens but I don't expect any of the annoying bugs to actually be fixed.

Yeah, you're right about players not reporting all issues that the game has. The other day, I just realized that I only report when the issue is game breaking because I already got used to workaround most bugs or I wouldn't be able to play the game.

I remember having the swimming laps in the ground issue in Sims 3 already and they never fixed it, talk about a long time 😭😭😭

I tried posting a new one the other day after creating a wonderful get to work store for one of my Sims. Put all the price tags on, set my store markup and even had my sims run an advertisement to entice customers. Opened shop and ??? Nothing happened, no townies, no celebrities, no solicitors or kleptomaniacs came into the shop. They kept spawning on the lot then disappearing. I've tried loading back in on different days just in case it was a temporary glitch but apparently retail shops on ps4 console are just broken? Along with their website that rejected my attempt to alert the sims' team that Get to Work isn't working.🤦

I empathize so much with your constant need to clarify that you are not toxically positive about a multi-billion dollar corporation. Toxic positivity is just the beginning with EA & their purchased devotees (i.e., *some* Creator Network simmers). There is also such thing as "Performative Helplessness" or "Weaponized Helplessness" that EA certainly doesn't mind leaning into, whether that leaning be intentional or accidental--same effect. I just want you to be reminded that most of us silent majority (yes, I see the irony in the fact that this comment doesn't qualify as silent, but I digress) think it's completely relevant & reasonable for any paying customer such as yourself to wish more of EA. Sure, you could leave the profession, but most all criticism you've provided has been fair, balanced, and constructive. I imagine you're like most of us--you'd be willing (and are secretly sometimes rooting for) other competitors to emerge within the Sim arena, yet Sims 1-4 have been a game you love, and still love. It's okay to wish more of and from things/people/companies we love and have loved. You don't hate the Sims, because the antithesis of love is not hate, it's negligence/ambivalence/apathy.

I went into the Microsoft store recently and saw the ratings on sims 4 was at 3 stars with many reviews saying the game was broken in so many ways. Just recently I went to make a new save and couldn't zoom in or out in CAS I could rotate my Sim but not zoom in or out on their face. I'll believe these statements when I see results

It's like the house is on fire but they're worried about folding the laundry. And OMG the names of the lots is sooo ridiculous. I literally named a sushi restaurant I built after the Nigiri sushi dish THEY HAVE IN THE GAME and got the warning I couldn't save it bc of the name. They've probably seen how excited people are about Life by you, Paralives and Inzoi. When the KZfaq simmer channels like yours and James Turner visibly show interest in those simulators, EA must know they're in trouble.

My first thought was that sales must be down. Dine out has so much more issues than wanting to add waffles or menu items-- personally I would for dine out love to tell my waiter/chef to get back to work when my sim has been waiting for food for 6 hrs because the staff decided to stop working. Or to be able to tell my customers to sit the F down when I'm running a restaurant so they won't keep getting angry that their food isn't being delivered to the table.

Every sim survey i always give feedback. Where text is an option i always add, "just please fix the game " Hopefully, something good will happen 🙏

my theory is that they're trying to squeeze as much money as they can out of us, so they've been frantically pushing out empty/broken packs. but they're realizing that the community aren't buying the packs as much anymore. so they know now that they have to fix the game or they're gonna stop getting our money.

financial aspect aside, i can't help but wonder if grant's departure put fear in their heart a little bit.

i have the merging household issue a lot. glad theyre trying to fix that. and it was annoying that my teen's grades never improved. but sooo many other changes need to be made.

I havent bought a pack since growing together - the game has become too bloated and complicated - it literally took up all of my computer’s memory. They really should work on making the existing game BETTER, not bigger - make the existing game play more fun, not endlessly disappointing (despite all the promises their advertisements make).
