Ethel Merman belts out the bawdy ballad "Eadie Was a Lady" -- with the lyrics considerably toned down for TV!

So glad to find this clip. I've had the original recording of this song for years, and always wanted to see "The Merm" perform it.

We forget what a great figure she had and how well she wore clothes. No one like her before or since and since her death she has lost none of her fame or stature!

I like the costumes and choreography in the TV version. Also the sound technology was better than the film version. I'm sure the best sound was on the theatre stage. Both Merman and Roth had great voices.

Boy, did they tone down the lyrics. Any idea when this was?
