In "Empty Daydream", that main riff sounds familiar is because it's derived from Michael Jackson's "Beat it". Jennifer Batten was MJ's main session guitarist when MJ embarked on his world tour in the '90s and Batten is one of Miyako's guitar influences. So when she composed this track, she incorporated that riff to pay homage to Batten. BTW, Lovebites just dropped a new LIVE video a few hours ago on their official channel - "We are the Resurrection"

I adore this song. One of my favorites. I was stunned the first time I head it and Miho and the others came in with that harmony, and then Miyako! Amazing. It sounds so good, and I am pretty sure it's the only time they did harmonized backing vocals. I love Miyako's piano intro, Asami's voice when she comes in, and then she carries that soulfulness through the whole song. Love the lyrics. It is well constructed. Love the bit where Miyako and Midori are harmonizing that run at the end of their solos, and then the key change! Love this song. It's unique for them. It's like they opened a door and stepped for a moment into the 80's.

Listening to metal for 5 decades. These ladies are ny all-time favorite band. They are so immensly talented it literally has brought a tear to my eye they are so good. If they played in the 80's they wpuld be a top 3-4 metal band easily.

I just love this song; nice piano and nice vocals by Asami and Miho, and especially Miyako. Miyako also has a great voice.

It sounds familiar because Miyako used the riff from Michael Jackson's "Beat It", composed by Edward van Halen, also a great pianist and guitarist.

Only Miyako does harmonizing vocals with Asami, Miho does call and response with Midori and Miyako. Miyako has soprano range.

Any one member of Lovebites, past and present, in any other band would be the musical heart of that band. In Lovebites we have five of them together. I suspect the only limits they have are those they place upon themselves. In this song Asami demonstrates what an amazing Soul/R&B singer she would have been had she continued on that road. I think this is the only band I have liked who truly do not have a bad song. Even Rush, for me long the best band there is, have a few that I'm not so keen on. Admittedly Rush's catalogue is over a much longer time scale than Lovebites (so far) but some of the songs from them I would list as not their best are from their early days. Lovebites started out as superb song writers and musicians and have just improved from there.

2019 is not as early as it seems! That was after Wacken and Bloodstock, after Metal Hammer Award, after their first European tour (NL, D, F), after two of their three Miho era albums (Electric Pentagram came soon after in January 2020), same year as their UK tour with DragonForce, and they had their first full live album "Daughters Of The Dawn". Remember, that in early 2020, Covid-19 started to freeze some to all of the activities, but they were able to give us two more live albums in 2020 and 2021 (with heavy restrictions), and a provisional "studio concert" in 2020, and a "Best Of" album, before Miho left. They've restarted in 2023 for Japan and this year worldwide, but most of the "old stuff" was already there in 2019/2020, they've used the last 5 years to consolidate, but now they start over! Today, they've released the first song from the live album (performed last September 24th), soon they are adding 5 news songs on an EP, the live album "Memorial For The Warrior Souls" and a rerecording of their debut EP. Todays song for the start (from "Judgement Day (2023)": "We Are The Resurrection (live 2023)".

even though supposedly miyako got inspiration from 'beat it' in the opening riff if you listen to them back to back MJ'S IS different and has a much funkier sound to it. after all - that was his thing. and then of course once you get into the verse any similarity is gone. then the LOVEBITES signature sound takes over. i liked MJ a lot but i love LOVEBITES

I've listened to all their songs and there is not one that I don't like. And the vast majority I like so, so much that I absolutely adore this band.
