How is he underrated if he’s in RnRHOF, The Musicians HOF, is one half of one of the greatest rock duos of all time, had his double neck guitar displayed at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, has his Fender guitar on display in the Nashville museum and is credited as having written one of the greatest songs of all time? So many saying they love Joe Walsh and his guitar playing here. Yes indeed! However, the magic that propelled the Eagles to superstardom was the mix, blend and teamwork of their arrangements once Felder and Walsh joined the group. This was a Joe Walsh original and he started it off in fine fashion. But who led out in the long solo? Not Joe but Don Felder, switching in an instant from rhythm to lead and then, after several brilliant bars, Joe joined in and suddenly we had a dual lead medley (reminiscent of Hotel California), but who took up the solid rhythm foundation when Joe and Don started dueling? This wasn't an overdub in a studio, this was live. Of course, (although we barely saw him in the video) it was Glenn Frey who seamlessly took over for Joe as he joined Don in those soaring, incredible lead licks! Joe didn't try to dominate his own song. Instead he let the full talent of the entire team shine in its brilliance. This wasn't a Jam session either, it was very well planned, played and orchestrated. Ego and pride may have led to their eventual breakup (twice) but when those emotions were shelved, the best music of the century came through, as history has witnessed now for 5 decades.

It burned Glenn more than Don probably. Don Henley discovered the nucleus of the what became Hotel California on one of Felder's idea tapes. He would send them over to Henley and Henley would sift through them and pick out what he liked. He told Felder he liked the "Mexican Bolero" thing and boom the rest is history. Phenomenal guitar work meets top songwriter/vocalist. But because of the contractual workings of the Eagles Don Felder got far less royalties than Glenn and Henley. This eventually broke up the band.

It's crazy some of the comments people say that how many Eagles are left and that Joe Walsh wasn't really an eagle he might not have been the original member but he was certainly an eagle and boy was he one of the best Hitman Feldman
@rbilleaud4 ай бұрын
I think the one thing that allowed Walsh to stick around as long as he did was that he didn't feel beholden to the Eagles for giving him a gig. He had his solo career to fall back on. He could be successful without them and they realized that. I think that bought him some leeway. Plus it allowed him to be less political in terms of the band dynamic.
