I have a friend that needed a new car years ago. I asked her if she wanted me to go with her to shop for it. She said yes. We went to a Toyota dealership, and she picked out the most beautiful Land Cruiser they had. I thought she was joking. She told the salesperson what she wanted. He asked how she wanted to pay for it. She handed him a card and told him to call the number on the card. He went and made the call. Ten minutes later he ran back to us and said the car would be ready soon. 15 minutes later he handed her the keys and said thankyou about a hundred times. I had no idea what was going on. No test drive, no paperwork, just a very excited salesman and a brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser. The whole thing took less than an hour. Later I asked how she did that. The lady on the business card did large purchases for her. She had a financial Manager whose sole responsibility was to manage her estate. I ask: " do you have a big estate? " She replied " About $40 million I think." I was shocked! She lived in an old top floor apartment and went to the local collage. I later found out she was from an old money family. I would have never known had I not gone car shopping with her. The money doesn't matter though; she is a lovely person and I hope she is doing well these days.

I used to deliver packages and the wealthiest, gated homes/communities had the largest percent of Camrys, American made trucks and SUV's and similar. While the poorest apt's and neighborhoods had Mercedes, BMW, Humvees, etc. I was shocked when I realized this was the norm. And it speaks volumes.

Point is get money and do what you want…

Hubby and I hardly splurge on anything luxurious. We are very comfortably retired and can afford a Rolex. I do all the work in our home and minor repairs, do all the organic gardening and yard work in a 10K sq ft property, clean the house, cook/prepare healthy food, and I take care of him. I'm praying to God to take me where some kindhearted rich people are... The reason is because I assume that most of them wouldn't hesitate too much or bargain the price of my nutritional products... I'm surrounded by poor people (those who have good incomes but are stincy) they feel proud of talking a picture with a expensive brand of beer but when I offer them my nutritional supplements I'm told they are "expensive" and don't need them (it's obvious that real rich people take care of their health as it is one of their treasures) but they only find pleasure on alcohol and greesy food and not on taking care of their health properly... Rich is no debt, a paid off house, a car perfectly maintained without complaining mechanics are crooks, a manicured lawn, good food at home, ability to afford medical checkups and health with/without insurance. Freedom to spend time as you see fit instead of how others see fit such as an employer or peers. And finally rich is generous and gives back to this wonderful world we inhabit

You can use debt, though. If you take out loans with near zero interest, the debt decreases over time because of inflation and loans don't ever get taxed. That's one way rich people dodge taxes.

I've always been curious how many luxury car owners are just overleveraged middle class people trying to look wealthy. Much like the book "The Millionaire Next Door" states, the highest percentage of millionaires drive Fords. I don't care to look flashy because I couldn't care less what anyone thinks of me, you just make yourself a target otherwise. I'll just keep driving my 17 year-old car until it dies completely. Vehicles are an expensive waste of money anyway.

A friend introduced me to a former colleague who had just bought a BMW on high interest finance of 30%. He wanted to be just like the other managers & after leaving his job was forced into a casual job where 2 of his 3 days worked paid for his BMW. He bragged of his new GF who loved the fancy car. I looked at my 8 year old car & smiled knowing it was mine & did the same job as his BMW. Years later he was divorced working 4 days a week to pay off his newest BMW & Spousal Maintenance. Some people will never learn from the past.

I've got you beat, I'm still driving my 20 year old Honda car. It still works quite well, and I simply can't justify the expense for a new one with the low miles I drive in a year. I've lost count of how many times some idiot coworker said why don't you buy a new car when the one I had worked just fine. I got way more fulfillment from spending my money doing fun things like travel (on the cheap) and recreational pursuits.

@@Abitibidoug I miss the days of simple home mechanics & my father was brilliant to teach me. I worked with a National Retailer & the other managers all had brand new leased cars. My car was 7 years old & well maintained. We all were let go with most other managers left with $50K car leases on their flash new cars a year later. I too was let go but walked out with an already paid off car & debt free. Y2K had amazing contract $$$$$ but after it was over, people were living the high life with new cars, kids in private schools & bigger homes. I could see the writing on the walls as stores were closed every week. I prepared myself after my boss was locked out of his office after 4 weeks leave.
@Abitibidoug
@Abitibidoug Жыл бұрын
@@matthewbrown6163 I also learned motor mechanics, some from my father and the rest I was self taught. I still do a lot of my own repairs and maintenance today. It's a skill that appears rare these days. On the subject of people who get in debt during boom times and are in trouble when it goes bust, you would think these people working on computers for Y2K preparation were highly educated and should know better. It's my observation that's not the case. It seems not everyone has that imaginary clock in their mind, as you and I do, who can run the clock into the future and imagine the things that could happen, good or bad.

i hate to admit it, but I have three of these 10. 1.I keep talking about money - my investments are starting to snowball and I cant stop thinking about it. :/ 2.Overdressing - I wear a blazer and tie every day with my dark jeans and dress shoes every day - i'm trying to be taken more seriously by my (small business) clients 3.Renting for 9 years - I've been renting an apartment 4 minutes away from work because I can BARELY afford a house this close to work. If the prices drop a little and my investments go up a little, I would totally buy a humble house in this area. Now that I know, I'll try to curb these shortcomings.

It's interesting that SM was mentioned twice on the list--spending too much time on and flaunting on. Since those people want to fake being rich, I guess it's all about being seen, and looking at others to compare yourself. I saw a meme once that was brilliant. It said, "People don't want to have a million dollars as much as they want to SPEND a million dollars." Summed it up, right there.

I'm poor on paper but rich/wealthy in mind, what I mean by that is according to the tax laws in Florida and the government I'm poor, but I'm rich/wealthy in mind cause I'm building my wealth by investing in myself by reading and buying books on getting the 💰 and securing the 💰, putting my money to work for me, investing in stocks, bonds, real estate investing and lending, and investing in start up companies, investing in my health, you have to have your health to build wealth, so I got gym membership and go to a therapist for my mental health. There were times that I blow the 💰 but now as I get older, I don't need to impress people with designer clothes and shoes. I only go to social media cause of family and friends and learning about getting another source of income. I refuse to go broke to prove to that I'm not broke, i buy necessities and investments.

Good day, all! We hope you're grateful for another day of opportunity. Instead of flaunting for approval as the video talks about, do one or more of these daily: Learn something Invest something Overcome something Create something ...and meditate at some point to reset your focus. Be blessed, everyone. Some people didn't wake up this morning. If you're reading this, you did...

May God hear my prayers. 🙏

Most of these seem to be along the lines of going into more debt to maintain a facade for strangers. If they could overcome the need to do this and actually get their finances in order, their lives will be so much better. Not private jet or yacht better, but at least headed in the right direction.

I do have issues with buying things for approval. I do spend within my means but I do buy things that only make me happy for a short time and require others approval. Now as for renting over buying, renting can be the financially responsible thing to do. Like renting a RV or speed boat for a vacation than buying a RV or boat that will sit in your yard for 95% of the year. Or even renting a house or apartment for a few years and being able to move to another city for a vastly better job. Just as long as what is being rented is for a short term for a spasific reason and not to impress others, renting is the financially responsible thing to do.
@menumlor9432
@menumlor9432 2 жыл бұрын
Yup. Try selling your boat or jet ski. Most people don't want it because they have no need for it. So in this case renting is financially a smarter decision.
@Donkeyearsa
@Donkeyearsa 2 жыл бұрын
@@menumlor9432 Buying a used RV or boat is more responsible than buying a new one even more so than a car.. The vast majority of RVs and boats have next to no use on them and what was used was at one time and not short trips so they have almost no wear and tare on them. Where most people sell a used car because they think that the repair bills will cost more than the car is worth, where people sell RVs and boats because they never use them. You might find a 10 year old RV that has under 20,000 miles on it because year after year it just sat in someone yard. When I was a kid we had a neighbor who had a RV for years that today would be worth $500k new that I don't ever recall ever seeing it not parked on their property. One day the bank came to repossess it and they handed the keys over to the guy so he could drive it away. The point is if you are planing on driving all over the nation for an extended time go ahead and buy a RV but buy one that is at least 5 yeas old but don't turn you nose down to one that is 10 to 20 or more years old because they might not be in any bad shape like a car is that is that old.

I met rich people that dress like hippies I thought they were homeless they walked into our office I didn't know who they were but everybody that have suits on stand up when they walk in the door it was the craziest thing I ever seen. They look homeless the husband and the wife. They came in the office had tie dye t-shirts while everybody else had suits on.

Realistically you can do that when you are very rich, but not even then it will be seen as respectful or well mannered, and I am sure they were treated on a lower level than the rich people who at least clean up. Unless you meant to say that a simple shirt looks homeless to you, without the accompanying smell of homelessness.

You're mainly talking about self-made millionaires. Truly wealthy people live a lifestyle that is beyond most can imagine. They may seem like they are flaunting their wealth, but that's just their world and they know nothing else. Trust me, I know some and once you're accepted into their circle, you'll realize they're not doing it on purpose, they just don't know what's outside of their world.

I was following until you mentioned the yzy gap collection being bought by wealthy KIDS. The yzy products are driven by overhyping things and they sell out because of a perceived cool factor. Despite Ye's intentions or inspiration, most of the people buying them don't give a damn about that, they're slaves to Ye's brand. And often it is the kids who are well off who have access to mom and dad's bank accounts. And tbh the style isn't for everyone, while it pushes the envelope, the designs aren't that elegant. Like you said it's based off homelessness which is something we should be aware of but not glorify. This example is the other side of the coin of poor people faking rich but honestly it's equally stupid..
