Have fun, Insanian! Pink Floyd will change your life for the better - One thing people will tell you is that Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall are concept albums. The Wall was actually made into a movie that is good and interesting. The point is that while you can listen to the songs individually and appreciate them, which you did here (Comfortably Numb is from The Wall), you wouldn't know that the song is about a rock star on tour and that The Wall is a metaphor that dictates a lot of what main character is all about. Both albums have songs that go right into other songs and all the songs are related, thematically.

Best song ever! Best live performance ever! I went to see this show twice during this tour. One outdoor show and one indoor show. Both were something I’ll NEVER EVER forget. I do feel very fortunate to have been able to witness this live. If you get a chance to go see Brit Floyd definitely go. They are the next best thing.

You’ve been “Floyded”, brother! Welcome to the crowd! Pink Floyd doesn’t write love songs; they write albums. On most of their albums, including all the great ones, the songs flow one into the next, with only one break - in the middle, to flip the vinyl over. They write about our common experiences - money, time, loneliness, fear, the darker side of life. “Comfortably Numb” is off PF's double-album, “The Wall”, which tells the story of a fictional boy named Pink. He wants to grow up and become a rock star, and over the four album sides he achieves his dream. But it comes at a high personal cost. As Pink grows up, he keeps being hurt~by his mother, his teachers, his girlfriend. So he builds emotional walls, to protect himself - hence, the album’s title. There’s a lot to the story, but the upshot is, by the time we hear “Comfortably Numb” at the end of Side 3, Pink has realized that he has walled himself off from everyone who cared about him. He hates the life he’s made for himself, and he hates himself for making it. In his loneliness and self-hatred, he turns to drugs to escape his pain, and this song is the story of one night before a show, when Pink is found too stoned to perform. The greedy promoter is horrified at the prospect of having to give refunds, so he calls in a rando local doctor, to give Pink a shot of some kind to sober him up and get him on stage. The song is the conversation between the doctor and Pink. PF’s guitarist David Gilmour’s first solo is while Pink is still stoned. But his second solo is after Pink has been ‘sobered up’, and he’s forced to confront the life he hates, his pain, his fear, the aching loneliness, the depression, and Gilmour’s brilliant solo makes us feel it all. The PULSE concert, so named because the original CD release had a red LED light in the spine that flashed, or ‘pulsed’, is a LEGENDARY concert. It’s been called arguably one of the greatest performances ever recorded, and it’s got my vote. I had the pleasure of seeing this concert with 65,000 friends, and it was even better than it looks. You can choose pretty much ANY song from that show, and know it’s a great choice to review. Every song that night was just brain-melting. The title track from the album you mentioned, “Wish You Were Here”, or “Time”, or “Money”, or “Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2)”, about Pink’s school days, or the heart-breaking “High Hopes”……every song that night was incredible. Finally, Pink Floyd crafted one of the greatest albums in history, their masterpiece “The Dark Side Of The Moon”. It’s been preserved by the Library of Congress. It’s the fourth-greatest-selling record in history. It’s been on the Billboard weekly sales charts for more than NINE HUNDRED WEEKS. If you don’t wish to react to the entire album (it’s worth the investment of your time), at least react to the final two songs, “Brain Damage / Eclipse”. Pink Floyd’s lyrics make you think. They stay with you. Their music resonates emotionally with people, and I’ve seen many people brought to tears by their songs. This is a rabbit hole worth going down.

Pink Floyd is slow pace > they will get you there when it's time. Slow pace = comfortably numb. 200 ton stage, 200,000 watts of power 4 sets of 32 wireless speakers. Saw 5 times. FAA clearance for outdoor lasers. Disco ball is a FU to music critics who said they wouldn't make it because they don'y play dance music.

I stood in line at my local Ticketmaster outlet, camped out starting at about midnight with tickets going on sale around 8am. I was third in line, was going to buy four $100 tickets for close to the stage. I was shocked that they were all gone when I went to get mine. So I got eight $50 tickets, still field level, about 50 yard line. Turned out to be good tickets as you could take in the whole spectacle. We were right next to this big covered thing at mid field, and it ended up being where the giant disco ball came up from. And I was able to introduce some friends to Pink Floyd for the first time. Even $50 felt like a splurge back then, until I was actually at the show and had no regrets whatsoever.

That‘s not an effect, that‘s David Gilmour‘s voice - and 3 insanely good background singers doing the BGVs! 1994 was before autotune was even invented. Actually Pink Floyd were still very much ahead of their time, they were the first to have a computerized light show and were actually the inventors of surround sound!

The song was recorded in 1979, so they were not Sooo old , around about 30 , ( or is that old to you ?) from the Album The Wall. Roger Waters wrote the song (the whole Album actually) he was touring in America and was ill ! nothing to do with drug overdoses, the doctor gave him "an injection ? to get him through the performance) which left him "out of it"

This obviously got your attention. We've loved this for decades, and can never hear it again for the first time. Seeing young people like you experience it is almost as good. This was the final tour for Pink Floyd (1994), for their final real studio album "The Division Bell", and was released the following year as the live video album "P.U.L.S.E.". David Gilmour still performs this stuff with other musicians as a solo act. Now got for some more amazing stuff. Here are some links I recommend - sit back and get lost in the music: "Sorrow" - the guitar and visual effects will blow you away, and the outro solo is as good (or IMO better than this one): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gMqAh8iUmqeodnk.html "One Of These Days" - bass player Guy Pratt gets to shine here, and Dave does steel guitar: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJNhZN2gu9Ssg4U.html "Keep Talking" - great visuals and Dave on talk box guitar (tribute to Stephen Hawking): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7yqgJmUuJfNfXk.html "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" - longer than this one, incredible keyboard and guitar work, with some surprises: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orF6a9Fp3b_IXYU.html "High Hopes" - the closing track on the final Division Bell album. Dave on acoustic and steel guitars: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqp7g91nsKqclqc.html you do soyou do so

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but the people who recommend pulse are WRONG. It is not Pink Floyd. Roger Waters - the singer, bass player, and writer of most of their songs, was not in the band. This is David Gilmour covering Pink Floyd Waters even sued him over it. I say this not to be a jerk but as someone who loves Pink Floyd. PLEASE listen to the album versions. There is so much more depth to the album versions. Unfortunately, reactors all seem to go for the pulse recordings. I saw them on that tour. It was absolutely not their best. And you really need Waters' distinct voice for this to be what it could be.
