Back at Santa Ana River Lakes.
First video of catfish season. I've been fishing but not necessarily catching. Kids in school and I can finally get to the lake early. Got into a nice quick bite in the morning. Wrapped it up with a limit of catfish within a few hours. Let see how we did so well.

Pretty funny, I was there yesterday with my grandson, and I can see my truck in the background several places in your video. We were over on the big lake, across the road and down closer to Casa Corner. We did pretty good too, using cut anchovies. Tried the mealworms and marshmallows, and I think we got one on that but the anchovies were definitely better. Will have to try shrimp if I go out there again. You were lucky to get the limit by 9:30. The bite went dead before 10:00 so we split. I was working to get my grandson bit (7 yo) so was not fishing very efficiently. He was super excited to get his first big fish, and first cat too. I saw another video and a guy pulled in a 35# later in the day. Now I feel like I know you, ha ha, so I am subscriber 499. See you on the lake.

You need to release some live glass shrimp in that pond to help eat the algae and provide extra feed for the stocked fish 🎣

came out here this last weekend with my family and caught three cats! stayed from about 7:30am to about 4pm. Primarily fished with nightcrawler/ marshmallows, definetly gonna have to try this shrimp out next time! do you fish with them raw or cooked? We noticed that the bites slowed down during the afternoon and picked up again in the evening. what time do you think is ideal for catching catfish here st this lake? ands lastly! what oil are you putting on the bait before you cast out?

Glad you were able to get on some fish brother. Definitely raw over cooked. I prefer to but them with the shell on and then defrost as you use them in the lake water. Should only take less than a minute to defrost. Then I just peel most of the shell off then I use Bite On Garlic Oil. Let it sit for about a minute or so before casting out. I've noticed the best action seems to be first thing in the morning or just as the evening session starts around 4pm. Good luck out there.

Are you using your trout rods? And what lb line are you using? Nice catches might go try my luck. Keep posting vids bro

They used to be my trout rods but now I use lighter weight rods. I use 6lbs test on these. I like to fish lighter line. Good luck out there brother! Get there early and watch the stocking video (Thursday) to get an idea of where they stock. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
