Come and explore Orchard Road early in the morning, commuters on their way to work, joggers and cyclists out before the full heat of the sun. We take a turn up my favourite road, Emerald Hill to admire the mix of modern and classic chophouse of all colours and styles.

What a fantastic walk up Emerald Hill! It's wonderful to see all the houses being kept in it's original form although when I visited many years ago, I was surprised to see many buildings used for businesses. Looking at your video today, I can see that many are still used as family homes which is great. It would be so nice to live in one. My cousin was a student at the former Singapore Chinese Girls School many moons ago. I'm very glad that Singapore has kept a few streets and the buildings in its original state to preserve its heritage.

Thanks for sharing your history here. Most of these shophouses still seem to be lived in. I would love to be able to take a peek inside some of them and see what's inside. We have a friend that lives in one, I haven't been to her home but Jonty says it's amazing!

Emerald hill looks just amasing! We just walked by last time we were there without stopping. Think we could spend at least a couple of hours there next time. Have a nice weekend 🥳

Hi WonderLust, During my younger days I used to hung out at orchard road with my group of friends. Now we still do but not so frequent just don't understand why we like to go there haha.

The area has a little bit of everything. I prefer this side of Orchard Road and the quieter malls.

@@WONDERLUSTworld They've upgraded the ambient cooling system, more new shops to make it a day/night venue and a more atas NTUC Finest supermarket

I love that you can take a trip up this road and suddenly the busy Orchard Road seems to disappear behind you, and you can catch a glimpse of Singapore in the past.
