Spyderco took a risk with the Nirvana and apparently with mixed results. But it's an "important" knife, a unique knife, and one that will last in memory, if not in production. The idiosyncrasies of the Nirvana may keep it from commercial success, but it has certainly left a mark and is likely a harbinger of things to come at Spyderco.

+Mitchell Delmar Agreed completely. It's a historic knife at the very least, and it's hugely ambitious. That has to go into the calculus.

I really like the low profile spyder hole. I think the geometric lines might be even cooler if they were machined into the stock. It might also provide some grip.

I will definitely be picking one up in the near future. I've been meaning to get my first integral and something about the Nirvana is calling to me.

At a reported production rate of 50 knives per week , at that price point , there should be perfection , and a steel lock bar insert . Reate , CKF and Lionsteel all managed it with their integrals , at the very least , carbidize the lock bar . That being said , it really does look like (and feel like?) the 1200.00 full custom . How does it compare,size wise, and in the pocket , to the ZT 0452 CF ?

I'm fairly new to the hobby, but I'm a little lost on what you mean when you say "lock stick". Do you mean that moving the liner out of the way is more difficult than it should be? Thanks in advance for an answer.
@NickShabazz

+NegroSpeed Yep, the lockbar sticks to the tang of the blade requiring some extra force to disengage at the start.

Can't wait til the full review. It sure is an interesting piece, not sure about the price- entering CRK range and all.

What are your thoughts on the 0350? Also, does the assisted opening on ZTs feel anything like the assisted opening on the Kershaw Cryo?

Hi Nick, I wanted to ask you where I can get Graham Razel. I heard it was discontinued, is it true?

Very hard to find, yes. Graham Knives has a Facebook group where they pop up on occasion.

I have an opportunity to buy a Nirvana that I've had for a few days. If I end up with it, I'm bead blasting the scales.

hey Nick did you see that zero tolerance released some 0450cf with ZDP-189? I know you liked the dragonfly in zdp so I thought this might interest you. bladehq has them on their website

This is just getting way to close for custom money territory for my liking for what you get. If it's worth the 430, then it's worth the 430, don't get me wrong, but if that's your budget then the sky's the limit on competitive blades that I think are going to give you a LOT more in the long run. Good on Spyderco for trying to innovate though.

like the knife and even it's full milled handle easy to clean always watch your reviews like to see the benchmade flipper as its there first one knowing how much you love benchmade and the spyderco your reviewing is like the sr1 lionsteel with no nylon keep doing the good the bad and the ugly and price sucks

God damn, it's a pretty knife, but it looks so horribly lefty-unfriendly that I don't believe I'll ever move past just staring longingly at it online.

So it's a $400-plus production piece and they couldn't be bothered to put a stainless insert on the Ti lockbar? Nah.
@NickShabazz
@NickShabazz 8 жыл бұрын
+FATshadow I'm a bit more sympathetic given the integral construction. Much more complex to do an insert here than most. But still should have at least carbidized the face

Are you being serious right now? $431 dollar knife when it was being sold, limited run, iconic designer and knife company. Said iconic knife companies first integral framelock knife. This will never go down in price. It will only go up.
@NickShabazz
@NickShabazz 8 жыл бұрын
I suspect the used prices will settle a bit lower once everybody's got theirs, depending how long production runs, but retail, I don't see changing.

Nicolo: So we probably already know, but your fav knife of all time? Mine is probably one I sold (like a dumb ass), which was hand made by Jodie Sampson in 1986, an all steel real Bali-Song before they were owned by Benchmade...Knife I carry most is a Hinderer. Go figure, why would I sell a non replaceable knife...Somebody slap me!!!!
