Lets ignore that as a young guy straight out of a fight his adrenaline and caution would still be up and who the hell knows if the beligerent earth bender wouldn't just get right back to being an asshole. Beyond that, a general rule of air nomad society was non aggression but we also see that ,past that baseline, they were still imperfect people in a highly individualistic society. Yeah there is no arguing the the characters show a lot of personality, but part of the reason you notice them in this animation, is because you have an imprint of the characters from the last airbender in your head. When you think airbender, you think ang and his personality. When you think of a generic earthbender with eyesight you think of those hardened benders that are more rough and serious in a fight.

@@MobikSaysStuff Absolutely! Even with the preconscious and stereotyping from "The Last Airbender" (and the other one) Jarod Koh added onto what he could have gotten away with as 1D characters (Ha). From what I've noticed (and made up). The Earth bender, being spiteful and easily startled leans away from his character archetype though adds to his traditional fighter and tough character. The Air bender despite his monk aesthetic and background, seemed to be quick to react in anger with fast retaliation and lack of holding back (bro literal broke his back), this paired well with his cleverness and sharp senses. Sorry about any grammar mistakes I'm a bit tried.

How the earth bender stood his ground, used the terrain to an advantage, tried to get rocks in the way of his opponent´s path to dodging, and went for plenty of frontal atacks to overwhelm him. Meanwhile, the airbender tried to find an angle, dodged all he could, was versatile and prioritized mobility and atacks of oportuniy, even before falling to the ground after taking a hit. The sequence from 1:50 onwards is probably my favourite, because you can very clearly infer the earthbender's strategy and thoughts without even seeing him most of the time. The moment the airbender takes a single step on the ground, the earthbender's picked him up on his tremorsense - you can see him smirk for a brief moment, as if to say 'there you are!'. So he launches a rock at that location, only for the airbender to dodge and counterattack immediately. Attacking from an unseen location alone won't work, the airbender's reflexes are too honed. So for his next attack, he makes sure to immobilise the airbender first, then launch a bigger rock that he can't deflect with air. The fact that all of that was communicated with no dialogue is a testament to how well done the choreography is.

I love how you managed to tell a story during this fight without any words. The earthbender obviously gives off vibes of an overconfident bully who's clearly never fought someone his own size before while the airbender is a calm, pure hearted soul who wouldn't hurt a fly. How ironic yet very satisfying that such a strong, hardened bruiser was taken down by a pacifist monk. Great animation.

I really love the end where from the previous vid, you only place the waterbender without a face but now you've added the Airbender having the earth bender fixing his glider 😂😂😂 You really put a lot to your videos. I also love how the fight was not immediately started as it was just calm before the storm. Keep up the magnificent work my guy 😁

Gotta love those acrobatics that you animated. Really fluid movements and non stop action that's so easy to follow. And for this to get any better, is to implement the camera more and more puzzling moments. Like that smoke scene, you don't understand how satisfying it is. Someone using a niche technique and to use it for their own advantage to fight an opponent, it's just so good.

I feel that an Airbender with Chi-Blocking would definitely be a potent force to face. I mean, their often pacifist ways would still allow for the disarming of their enemy's bending or physical attacks in general.

Okay the quality of the animation is stellar, and the soundtrack is amazing, but can we talk real fast about the fighting styles themselves?? Jared's interpretation of offensive airbending techniques is fantastic, and the emphasis on staff fighting was masterful. I caught a few different styles of staff fighting in there but the best shot was the Monkey Staff move where he climbed up the staff and used it as a launching move for that massive sweep downwards was incredibly well-executed. Well done, Jared. Loved it.

I literally love everything about this animation man, the style of karate matches the show and it’s done really well. The only thing is at 2:50, when the earthbender took down an entire tower of stone with a simple wave from his left hand. That move was his seemed last resort and he’s exhausted so I feel like if he put a bit more of strength and quickness into that wave then it maybe would’ve felt more realistic. I don’t know why I’m going on about small details but I just kinda noticed that ig 😭. Great animation btw and I hope to see more :)
