I saw Earth Wind and Fire in Chicago in 1974 (or 73). I was my first concert and quite frankly, it is still one of my most memorable concerts. We were teenagers at the time and our tickets were free. Our tickets were paid for by the summer youth work program that we were a part of. Great memories!

I was brought back-in-time… with this Brilliant Performance… by the Legendary Band of “EARTH WIND AND FIRE”💕. This song is special to me. This EWF recording was released on an album from 1972 was titled "Last Days and Times". Jessica Cleaves sang on this LP. She was once a member of the group Friends of Distinction. The song was written by Pete Seeger of "Peter, Paul and Mary" and it was written in protest against the Vietnam War in the late 1960's. I was in high school at the time and was worried that I would be drafted and shipped off to war. I was very fortunate not to have lived that experience. I did loose some friends from high school and my hometown to the Vietnam War. Every time I hear this song I think of those whom I knew and died in Vietnam. Thousands of soldiers and who came back home were wounded and psychologically damaged. The lives of the soldiers and their families were forever changed by the experience of war. I know, because my father was one of those soldiers.

Phil has a massive voice. One of my all time greats growing up as a teenager. It's funny because listening to these back in the day...no you tube vids then, they were just singers on vinyl. Who are these guys I thought! All part of the romance of that era. Pure magic. The way of the world magic. Listening to Maurice bringing this great song together with the crowd is poetry in motion. 😜
