Marvin Gaye...Mercy Mercy Me...Extended Mix...
"Woah, ah, mercy, mercy me
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Where did all the blue skies go?
Poison is the wind that blows
From the north and south and east
Woah mercy, mercy me, yeah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Oil wasted on the ocean and upon our seas
Fish full of mercury
Oh Jesus, yeah, mercy, mercy me, ah
Ah, things ain't what they used to be (ain't what they used to be)
Radiation underground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Hey, mercy, mercy me, oh
Hey, things ain't what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land?
How much more abuse from man can she stand?
Oh, na, na, na
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Hey, ooh, woo..."
It's Time We All Started Dancing Again...

I absolutely HATE what is happening with our country right now and also what we are doing to Mother Earth. We only have 1 Earth and 1 life and both are fading fast for everyone. And I mean EVERYONE 😢. Everyone in the world not only needs to listen to this album but hear what Marvin is saying. Stop hate in this world. We are ALL human beings and life is too precious and too short. Love you Marvin

the more this song has come full circle and with most of the songs that were about tragedy, murder, violence etc, the same crap is still today in 2024 if not worse, the culture will never overcome, it is still killing each other, fatherless families, low income settling for poverty and not wanting better i could go on but the message is clear, its another generation of bs and folks blaming the white man for their lack of whatever!!

Gone 40 years now! Can you believe 40 years! I can't! He would be 85 years old today. He left behind so many wonderful songs and albums that will never die, but this one! This one was the greatest and baddest of all. Like Michael Jackson Thriller, it will live forever. Marvin gift to his people and the world. Thank you Marvin. Happy Birthday and God Bless You! I grew up in Windsor, Ontario. To me their was no black or white music, good was good. I grew up in a United Nations of so many ethnic groups, we all got along, laughed at each other and ourselves. We took pride at being diverse but United in conversation. Yes things aren’t like they used to be, instead of learning from our mistakes we got more tribal and petty, so sad.

I strongly disagree. I used to have the same opinion. Some of it is rubbish. Not all. Every one of these artists have a story to express themselves. Their music tells their experiences. It actually helps some sectors of society. In the world that we live in, not every life is about love and peace. Violence is also. Hurt, pain revenge, etc. They reach folks and relate to their experiences as well.

Matthew 21:15-16 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did *and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,”* they were indignant. 16 *“Do you hear what these children are saying?”* they asked him. “Yes,” replied Jesus, “have you never read, *“‘From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise’?”* Praise God that you know Him and the power and His might, who has triumphed over all the power of the enemy to give us an endless life. Jeremiah 9:23-24 23 Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glories glory in this, *that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.*

Turning 70 on Saturday the 10th of February…..this came on the radio as I sat on my bedroom floor being a teenager at 17. Although I had no mature understanding what he was telling us all about; these words hit something deep down in my heart. I had no idea!!!! Racism The Vietnam war and everything this song says began to happen. All around all of us. Only I could see a little bit better. At 70, which is way too long, I can see. So sad. What’s the matter with all of us?!!
