The only reason m2 won is because they didnt use psi block and fireomega and beam gamma

I was honestly shocked to see how good the stats of the mother 1 party was. Even then, the main advantage mother 2 has is that their psi attacks are just SO much better. Edit I severely underestimated the mother 1 party members, from JUST level 30-40 they learn some of the most overpowered moves I have seen in the whole series, I seriously think the ONLY thing that saved the mother 2 party is that they have rolling hp

But there Hp get subtracted immediately while the Earthbound it doesn't.

Interesting comparison and beautiful way of presenting it to the viewer. I do have a few critiques and questions, though: 1: I understand that you removed PK Fire Ω's instant kill property, one likely reason being that it'd be too easy a win for the Beginnings cast if they could do it. But they don't have a resistance to PK Beam's instant kill property. It should be reasonable for Ana to use one on Poo, then Ness on the following turn if she is still alive. The Earthbound cast's Franklin badge defends against PK Thunder, and PK Beam γ is non-elemental, so they cannot negate it unless you believe it to still be unfair. 2: You also stated in a comment that the Earthbound team has 95% fire resistance from equipment to justify their immunity to PK Fire Ω's instant kill property, but that's not entirely true. From the source I read, Poo only has a 30% fire resistance. This is because the Cloak of kings gives only Type 1 resistances (30% for fire/freeze damage) compared to the Star pendant which gives Type 3 resistances (95% for fire/freeze damage). I noticed that you had the Earthbound cast take 5% of their max HP from Ana's PK Fire Ω- would this mean Poo would take 70% of his max HP (447) as damage from that instead? 3: Why does the Beginnings cast choose to equip H20 pendants? Is PSI Fire more dangerous for them than PSI Freeze and PSI Thunder? 4: Why did Poo use PSI Thunder on the first turn when it's strictly worse than PSI Starstorm? Is that just to extend the battle for dramatics, or to show that the Beginnings' shields can't be broken by PSI Thunder? 5: Paula has a guts rate of 30.2%, but you chose to have her proc it on her first try. Is that for dramatics? 6: Similarly, Teddy has a smash rate of ~30.47% against Paula and landed one on his second try, which is around the 50% mark (~48.34%). He also has a smash rate of ~53.71% against Poo, and as such, landed one on his first try. What you did here seems fairer than the above. 7: Why did the Beginnings' cast prioritise Paula? Poo is a much bigger threat here because he's the biggest damage dealer and primary reviver. As a bonus, his guts rate is very low, so they don't need to worry about landing an extra attack to down him. 8: Lloyd and Jeff don't have access to their gadgets. I assume this is because items are removed from the scenario to reduce the repetitiveness of using healing items over and over again, but that unfairly impacts the two of them because their gameplay revolves around using items and gadgets exclusive to them. It's to the point where all Jeff did was miss twice. I'd suggest allowing Lloyd and Jeff to use their exclusive items if you make a similar video in the future. -A more efficient Jeff build would have him use the heavy bazooka for potential group damage without worrying about accuracy, and the shield killer to get rid of PSI Shield and Powershield. I will note that the Rabbit's foot + Multi bottle rocket combo would be particularly lethal if not for the Beginnings' cast high speed, which forces all 20 rockets to miss against them. (For other readers, the formula for bottle rocket's miss chance is (enemy's speed * 2 - user's speed).) The Rabbit's foot can still be useful on Jeff, though: with it, he can go before Paula, and use the shield killer to combo into Paula's PSI Freeze. While he'd be instantly downed from PK Fire Ω because he has to sacrifice his fire resistance to equip the Rabbit's foot, this opens up another combo in Poo using Healing Ω to revive Jeff before it's his turn. I would ban the use of the Neutralizer for the same reason PK Fire Ω's instant kill property was banned- using it would be too easy a win for the Earthbound cast. -Meanwhile, a more efficient Lloyd build would have him use the sticky machine to bind the remainder of Ness or Poo that Paula did not instant kill with PK Beam γ on the first turn. This status effect cannot be healed with Healing, making it a very effective tool against the Earthbound cast and their rolling HP. He would also freely use the Super Bomb if you didn't give the Earthbound cast immunity to instant death. Since you did, however, he'd be better off using normal attacks most of the time. Super bombs still have value when used to chip a target who has used Guts to survive at 1 HP down to 0, however, because the other Earthbound party members would also take minor damage. (I am aware that multiple sources conflict with each other on what the sticky machine is like. Some say it's like Rope, some say it's like Paralysis. I wrote what I wrote assuming it's like the former. If it's the latter, it'd only be useful against Poo since he has a 50% chance to get hit by it. The others would be immune.) 9: Speaking of rolling HP, while I'm fairly sure it rolls slower in this video than in Earthbound, I like that you did not intentionally draw the video out to make HP finish rolling before making another action. While doing so is optimal for both sides (waiting until any potential Guts effect kicks in on a target before attacking again to down them for the Beginnings cast, and waiting for Lifeup to finish healing for the Earthbound cast), but would make the video much less pleasant to watch. Overall, while I disagree with how the match would go, it's partially because of what I think should be allowed in the match in the first place. After banning the Beginnings' cast's most notable instant kills, allowing Lloyd to use the sticky machine would make the matchup more even. It lets them get around the rolling HP mechanic by disabling Poo, who is arguably the biggest threat to them. Meanwhile, Jeff can be more useful with the heavy bazooka, forcing Ana to stay on healing duty after the first turn or softening her up for Paula to down her with PSI Freeze Ω. Regardless, I found it an entertaining watch. Good job.

i think the EBB crew needs to focus down Ness before Poo. i feel like Ness can easily clean up if Poo (or everyone else) goes down, because at this point he's self-sufficient. if Ness goes down, and Poo isn't allowed to revive him, it can domino to everyone going down. of course, this is post-Magicant Ness with the Gutsy Bat, so that's no easy thing to do with three other people attacking with him (unless you use Beam, which could've totally been used since Ness used Flash Omega).

I see where you're coming from, since Ness can be quite dangerous by using PSI Flash Ω to attempt to instantly down the Beginnings team (37.5% chance per target, or slightly over one in three, which is very high). However, do keep in mind that PSI Flash is his only method of offense against them. He's too slow to land hits with normal attacks or PSI Rockin. Additionally, there is a mechanic in Earthbound which prevents any character from being immune to both Hypnosis and Brainshock. This is because a character's Brainshock resistance is determined to be the opposite of their Hypnosis resistance. I'll explain a little for those that want to know about it. -By default, the Earthbound cast has Type 0 Hypnosis resistance (1%), meaning they have Type 3 Brainshock resistance (100%). -The Cherub's band, Goddess bracelet, and Bracer of kings gives the user Type 2 Hypnosis resistance (90%), which means their Brainshock resistance drops to Type 1 (50%). -Jeff's Pixie's bracelet, on the other hand, gives him Type 1 Hypnosis resistance, meaning his Brainshock resistance drops to Type 2. This makes it so, on average, two Brainshocks or Brain Cyclones from Ana can induce strangeness on Ness (and Paula and Poo), making it difficult for him to recover once he's hit with the only other Healing user down. If he sticks to offense, he might PSI Flash himself by accident, and if he tries defending, he might waste turns using Lifeup or Healing on the Beginnings cast. (On a side note, I personally find this "mutually exclusive resistance" mechanic quite clever, because Earthbound's flavour text describes that Hypnosis may not work on smart enemies, while Brainshock may not work on stupid enemies. I think it's a good way of balancing resistances and adding charm at the same time.) Additionally, if Ness is defeated, Poo will be able to revive him with 100% accuracy and HP with Healing Ω, but if Poo is defeated, Ness is only able to use Healing γ, which does not give full HP restoration and will fail one time out of four. This means it's easier for Poo to make a comeback for the team than Ness, in addition to him already dealing more consistent damage than Ness. It's funny how Poo is so good in this theoretical format when he's so bad in the actual game, but it is what it is. (Edit: I just realised that one possible play for the Beginnings cast is to have both Ninten and Ana cast Powershield on themselves, which would indeed mean you would be right in this circumstance: Ness becomes more threatening than Poo. That being said, there is still counterplay the Earthbound team could do here. Assuming Jeff uses a Rabbit's foot build and Lloyd uses a Super Bomb to instantly down Jeff, Poo would revive Jeff, Jeff would use the Shield killer on Ninten, and Paula would oneshot Ninten with PSI Freeze Ω. Ness can then gamble for a 37.5% chance of instantly downing Ana.) For reference, using the gear the person who made the video, the Earthbound characters have these resistances. Ness and Paula: Type 3 Fire, Freeze, Flash, and Paralysis resistance. Type 2 Hypnosis resistance. Type 1 Brainshock resistance. Jeff: Type 3 Fire, Freeze, Flash, and Paralysis resistance. Type 2 Brainshock resistance. Type 1 Hypnosis resistance. Poo: Type 2 Hypnosis resistance. Type 1 Fire, Freeze, Flash, Paralysis, and Brainshock resistance. The Rabbit's foot build I suggested as an option for Jeff (so he can move between Poo and Paula) would give him these resistances. Jeff: Type 3 Paralysis resistance. Type 2 Brainshock resistance. Type 1 Hypnosis resistance. Type 0 Fire, Freeze, and Flash resistance. And these are how much protection each Type gives. Damage (Fire, Freeze): Type 0 = 0%. Type 1 = 30%. Type 2 = 60%. Type 3 = 95%. Statuses (Flash, Paralysis, Hypnosis, Brainshock): Type 0 = 1%. Type 1 = 50%. Type 2 = 90%. Type 3 = 100%.

Ness's Flash can bypass PowerShields because it's a status attack, if it wasn't for that then EB Beginnings would win. EB Beginning's PSI attacks are also pretty weak when it doesn't auto kill things. Earthbound has a huge speed disadvantage though, and they struggle to land physical hits and also Ness's Rockin PSI attack.

Not against bosses, so there is some kind of resistance to it, although I don't think there was any kind of specific stat that caused someone to be immune from it, other than just being a boss and it'd be too unfair if it killed the bosses. All the Earthbound characters have 95% fire resistance from equipment, that on top of all their defensive stats, so I figured it was more likely than not that they wouldn't be one shot killed by it.@@user-dy8ig9lh8p

Why does Ana die to PK Flash with the Sea Pendant equipped but PK Fire Omega doesn’t instakill the EarthBound cast with Fire resistance equips? The Sea Pendant’s in game description is “When you USE it, it will defend against all PSI attack.” By this logic, it should halve Ana’s health.

@@user-dy8ig9lh8p yeah Ana should just solo everyone if instakill literally meant instakill in this fight regardless of psi resistant equips. Otherwise, she should just use Beam y on Ness so she doesn’t get instakilled by Flash.
