This gentleman knows his stuff. He also answers all my questions. I purchased my svs subwoofer, kef speakers and am now awaiting the release of the Yamaha reciever he selected for me. everything bought sight unseen except for his videos. Couldn't be happier with these reviews

Thanks for the shout out, Cody! This is a thoughtful, technical, well produced review. I have no idea how this Mini-Me compares in LFE output to my hybrid Sunfire True Subwoofer Signature, which has solid output below 20HZ; however, I do have an Earthquake Supernova 15 (without DSP as instead my Home Theater Processor’s is used; the current version of the model is the Supernova Luminous LU-15) and it produces more LFE than my five other units combined that I also use (for Home Theater it’s corner loaded), definitely high output at 15 HZ! It’s compact but far heavier than the Mini-Me DSP 12 of course. I agree that dual units would work great. Did you follow the manual for single subwoofer placement: midway along the left wall and did you try corner placement, as the classic Carver Sunfire is designed for? Can you use the output you discussed on the back of the Mini Me DSP 12 to send LFE to another subwoofer to send a signal to your HSU and go dual with two models with different design (passive vs. ported) that either might integrate or perhaps might not? Just to piggyback on your comment, I totally agree! And, he doesn’t hit you over the head with his knowledge and does not come off as a condescending “I know tech” reviewer like quite a few on here. Always quick to show us how much they know and all the super expensive tech that they’ve got! You get none of that here. Just a kind, courteous, knowledgeable tech reviewer who breaks it down so people can understand.

I am a 1st time sub owner and just got my system setup this week. I unfortunately don’t know what the hell im doing. Seems like a bit more than plug it in a sit back. Are there any setup videos on the mini me? I have everything plugged in and working but minimal output. I am not an audio guy so I am a bit perplexed on what I need to do to get more output… anyone’s input appreciated

Unfortunately I haven’t tried the pro series from Svs so I can’t say. Hopefully I’ll get an opportunity in the not to distance future.

Thank you for a thorough, informative review! If I may impose with a question, how do you feel this subwoofer compares to the SVS SB 3000, as they seem quite similar in purpose and instrumentation, yet different in implementiation (SB3000 has no passive radiator, but a bigger woofer area) ?

That’s a great question unfortunately I haven’t heard the 3000. Looking at the specs they’re both very comparable except the 3000 has a more powerful amp. The SVS app is more polished but I do think this would be a great comparison.

@@giovanniiossa3169 that wouldn't be a fair comparison either. As the SVS SB-1000 is a sealed sub and the Earthquake MiniMe 12 is a passive radiator subwoofer. A fair comparison would be another 12inch passive radiator subwoofer. Personally I prefer the sound signature of sealed subs, then ported second and passive radiator last.

Could this subwoofer be hooked up to a home receiver for just music not theater? By hooking RCA jacks straight in? Does it have a built-in crossover that won't allow a voice or instruments in the music just bass?

They should have used the passive radiator cone and surround for the subwoofer, it looks more beefy.

i think the biggest selling point of this sub is its small and light. if you don't need that you can probably get more bass for your dollar with a ported SVS sub but it will be twice the size and weight for only a little more output. i just wish the android app had the same functionality as the apple app.
