Where I Purchased - OfferUp
Price Paid $250
Condition - 80% (not included in the Average Guy Hi-Fi score)
Not in perfect shape as it has a couple dings in the cabinet and the grills have some wear. Overall in very good condition though.
Quality - 8.0
This a well built and sturdy little subwoofer. The cabinet feels stout, the driver and the passive radiator feels even stouter.
You can tell that this little sub is well built. I’ve read many good articles about Earthquake’s build quality and this sub seems to reinforce those thoughts I’ve read.
Bass - 7.5
For it’s small size, this subwoofer puts out an obscene amount of bass.
With that said, size really does matter. If you are trying to hit reference levels in a medium to large room, you will likely need 2 of these to get.
MSRP Rating - 6
At anywhere near the $1,500 price tag, there’s definitely better options. Dual SVS, HSU or PSA subs will have significantly more output and cost around the same.
Aesthetics - 8
This is an attractive little Subwoofer but it also isn’t going to win any design awards either.
The cabinet has nice rounded edges and the passive radiator has an elegant yet powerful look to it but I can’t say that I’m a of the “Earthquake” stamped into the main woofer.
Takes up very little space, so it still scores well here.
Price Paid Value - 8.5
$200 is an amazing deal for this subwoofer, especially considering the MSRP was around $1,500.
Average Guy HiFi Rating - 42/50 = 84%
Final thoughts -
I love me some passive radiator subs! This little subwoofer puts out much larger sound than you’d expect, out of such a small cabinet.
This would be an ideal sub for small - medium sized rooms. It will start outpacing itself at higher volume in larger rooms.
In my room, it preformed beautifully!
