The Shadow Wrap Short Row Heel is now my Go 2 for sock knitting. It beats all the other short-row methods by far!!!!! I now knit top down on two circulars using your pattern. I have not mastered how to weave in the tails though.Will keep watching and will get it soon I hope!!

Thank you for yet another Superb sock knitting video! Shadow Wrap Short Row Heels seem very easy to do -- easier, imho, than the Fleegle or the Fish Lips Kiss heels. It is so helpful to see how you knit ends in rather than sewing them later. Thank you and God bless you!

Thank you for posting this! I like to do taat on two circulars and am excited to try this type of heel. Most taat tutorials seem to be magic loop, which is comparable, but it’s really helpful to be able to see it this way.

Hi Denise! Great tutorial as always, I really like the way you teach. One tip that I've learned when switching colors and weaving in. Instead of attaching new yarn and weaving in the end on subsequent round, I find it better to weave in the end at the end of the round/row before color switch. That way I can keep better tension on the new yarn, and i won't forget to weave in the end on next round. Also it helps to keep track of which yarn is which when they both contrast, instead of weaving in the end that is the same color as working yarn. Hope it helps someone!

Thanks for the tutorial. I do it a little different. I don't break or cut the main color Just leave it hanging. I just slip all the stitch on the first needle to get to the back needle. Add my heel color and weave the end of the new color as I work across the heel to the first twin stitch. Once the heel is done the main color is sitting there waiting to be worked across the first needle.

I have made this heel with you when you first presented it and just love it. However, it feels a bit snug on my heel so can I just make two less shadow wrap turns (one on each side) to widen the center section to see if it fits a bit better? Thanks! Love your videos and your soothing voice.

Hi Judy, I suggest watching the first video that I did on the shadow wrap heel. That explains how to knit the heel in detail. Then you can move onto this tutorial. And there’s no reason to stick with one type of heel. That’s the beauty of Knitting there’s lots and lots of options!

Fab tutorial. Do you think the needles you use help to keep your stitches so tight especially at each end? I use addi circular needles and wondered if there is a better needle and cord for this?

Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. In my experience the needles can affect the stitch "tightness" but that has more to do with the size than the brand.

I have one question. With two contrast balls, wouldn't it be possible to knit the two heels two at a time? It might not be everyone's preference, but I'm trying to visualize whether it would be doable or not.

Hi Amy, I'm sure you can do two at a time as you described. This tutorial is not the only method. I'm sharing how I knit my socks. It's always knitters choice and the beauty of knitting is having multiple options. Happy Sock Knitting!!

I normally knit toe up. My current go to pattern has a gusset and heel flap. This heel doesn’t, right? It’s basically a tube and then the heel and continue the tube until the cuff?

That tutorial walks you through a full explanation of the shadow wrap short row heel. This tutorial assumes that you're familiar with the heel already. That is why there is a "jump" to the triple stitches. Hope that clarifies things for you.

I have to laugh when you say people can speed up the video if they are impatient. I like to play them at 75 or 50 percent speed so I can understand better. Guess I’m a slow learner. But then I can truly knit along. 😊
