When my husband made shatta with red chillies, I had to go to the other side of the house. My eyes would water and I would choke on the chilli VOCs in the air if I came anywhere near the kitchen. It was mighty powerful stuff. Like the Palestinian spirit I think. 🤗 ❤️ 💚🤍🖤

Hi Nadia, I made Shatta today. Brought light green wide bodied chillies...these are less fiery. Coriander instead of Parsley. The outcome is phenomenal. Family loved it. We consumed with home made yoghurt. Now it's sleeping in the Refrig 😉🙏

what you made is more a Pakistani or northern indian chutney, we make it all the time as a side condiment to have with yogurt and bbq meat, shatta uses parsley specifically, totally different flavour. But both gorgeous.

Oh man, I used to make this chutney a lot during summers, it is more pasty in texture, but i really love this texture too, I dry roast garlic and chillies and then pound them with salt and replace virgin olive oil with mustard oil. I love love love this dip/chutney/paste! Thank you for sharing this recipe, will try this too!

Now Nadia - I find this is really really interesting. I have a couple of "near homicidal / murderous" chilli pastes each of which are difficult to use due to their intense burning characteristics - but - I love chilli. Serrano is my favourite. Thanks for sharing this recipe. Hugs from Melbourne. Hmm, A different Kitchen!

See? Now you have me feenin' all over again for homemade Palestinian tapenade i used to buy from a brother at a farmers' market years ago in long beach. That and the giant pita chips he'd also sell were treats - until I went back home and i've never found it again since. That special batch of tapenade must've been tomato-based because it was a juicey red in hue. If you have any takes on tapenade i would love to tune in. Saludos y salaams
