Success on 2nd try! I am delighted, thank you! At 60, I don't want to cut off my long hair, but it does look better up than down, to distract from the "experience" in my face. I have a good volume of hair, but it is oh-so-fine and slick; most things slide right out. I found the thinner soft hair tie worked better than the silicone curly one. I used about 4 long bobby pins for extra support & tucking. After it was up, I pulled a little ease into the crown, sides, & top while holding the tuck pocket securely. I really like how it looks & feels comfortable. We'll see if it lasts the rest of the day with a phone headset. Very comfortable so far. Happy girl here ☺️

I use this style regularly for work. Throughout the day, sometimes, my hair ends up popping out through the bottom. My hair is thick, likes to do it's own thing. With this style, I noticed it holds great if I put it up when still wet and use hairspray (particularly in the back). Also, make sure you're using a good hair tie. If I use thin bands or old, too stretchy ties, my hair comes right out. Hope that helps.

I tried this hairstyle myself but I modified it and made it lower on the head like another viewer commented so as to not look matronly. It was a very cute hairstyle and I considered doing it for my daughter as well. That is, until I had to take the hair out. A word of caution for those considering this hairstyle,since I saw no mention of this in previous comments, it may create a lot of knots in your hair. My husband had to help me, he tried getting the knots out so he could remove the hair elastic but in the end he ended up cutting the hair elastic with a pair of scissors. I was left with huge knots in my hair. Now that may have been caused by an error I committed in creating the style, the fact that I have thin straight hair or it's just caused by the style itself. In the end I decided that this cute hairstyle is not worth the pain. I loved how I looked but I didn't love the pain.

I have super thick curly hair thats also long down to curve in back and have never been able to do any hair tutorials here but finally one actually worked that you this is perfect for JROTC no more sock bun for me

i have almost shoulder length hair and it is thick and curly. i tried this with a dutch braid in the front and just tucked the end of my braid into where the elastic is. it looks amazing and so easy to do:)

On me, because I'm older, it looks best when the pony tail you start with is a bit lower. The higher version looks a bit matronly. Great if your job is working with food. Love it!

I love this style - I wore a similar style to my sixth form ball, but instead I pulled the ponytail right through, then tucked the ends in and pinned it all down. The result looked more like a croissant, haha. One thing I will mention is that if you have ANY amount of regrowth if you dye your hair, the roots will show up in the split you create to form the 'pocket', unless you cover it with an accessory. Of course, you would dye your hair freshly before going out in this updo. ;)

That sounds lovely! You can always try to conceal the opening for the pocket by bringing together hair from the slipt sides, and securing them with bobby pins :) This is perfect to save you from an everyday bad-hair-day situation. Otherwise, for a more formal occasion, you'd take the necessary steps to look as flawless as possible :)
