I found the perfect solution to stop humming or weird blurry audio if you are using your laptop. I turn down the volume of the Spotify we'd player to half way or a little lower and I turn down the volume of my laptop. Hopefully this helps anyone. It is a little bit of trial and error took me about an hour to figure it all out though

Small piece of advice: Yes, C-90 tapes are rated at 45 minutes per side, for a total of 90 minutes... C-60s have a 60-minute play time, etc. However, this is not a completely hard and fast rule, and some tape manufacturers back in the day would assemble their tapes with about a minute or two more or less than the advertised rating, so 90 minute tapes actually had between 43-47 minutes per side, depending on the manufacturer, 60 minute tapes had between 28-32 minutes per side, etc. Today, there is only one manufacturer left but the machines they use are not precise, so you still have a margin of error. So my advice for you is to take that extra bit of time to play the blank tape front to back on one side and time it, so you know exactly how long you have to record. The leader on the tape is about 5 seconds, so start the timer 5 seconds after you press play, and then stop it when the tape player automatically turns off the play button. Once you know precisely how much time you have per side, you can build your playlist to fit precisely in the window of time.

99% of the time, it’s more than the advertised length. I’ve had exactly one instance of it being a few seconds shorter, and that was a Denon 100 minute tape. The speed at which your deck plays is also a key factor in how much time you get.

Thanks this video was helpful. Here is some info that i think might be helpful to anyone doing this. You can plug a AUX cord into the port labeled "MIC" on any cassette recorder. It dose not have to say AUX. You don't have to use this specific cassette recorder. I did this method with a cassette recorder i found at goodwill for only $2.99. You don't have to use Spotify. You can use any music streaming service. I used apple music and it worked great. That’s all, Hope this helped :)

If you have a recorder that has AUX you WANT to plug it into that and NOT Mic. Also, want to watch the volume when using Tape or anything analog in general, or you'll get a lot of distortion.

I want to make mixtapes while being bored in quarantine. I can't wait to make all my mixtapes for travelling and listeing to music on the go. Thanks for making this video :) Edit: I'm not gonna travel right now, but once we're able to travel again.

Thanks man this was incredibly helpful! I found out something that may be useful to others; plug the cassette recorder into an outlet, i was going off straight batteries and it recorded quite poorly. The volume and quality fluctuated big time, anyways, happy mixing 😊

Finally I can have a mixtape. When I first saw this, the first song that came to mind that I should put on the tape was Panama.

Well done. Quick and easy. This is also good if you want to mess about with sounds, and can move onto better gear if you like it. Rather than paying a fortune. And you can also do voice stuff on those little recorders too. I found an 80s Technics deck (stereo) in excellent condition on ebay for about £20 including postage and got myself a capture cable for about £10. I can record off my computer onto tapes or from my deck to the PC (using audacity). The cable plugs into either the line in or line out depending on what you want. Great video.
