Man this video is the best one out there so far on this. The pace, the detail, little bit of trouble shooting. Thank you. Mine will be here tomorrow and this will be my main reference. Clear and concise. I appreciate you

@FoulNews any reason I can't get them to work after testing on a external power supply I've used different cored and bricks and if it's not in the computer I can't get it to get me a feed.

Are you using the USB port to power it or directly through the power and ground pins?

Glad to find your videos on the cr5. Why did you change the mainboard?
@FoulNews
@FoulNews Жыл бұрын
I changed the mainboard because the power supply was wired incorrectly out-of-the-box, which ended up killing the OEM mainboard within a few days. So I figured I'd upgrade to the SKR mini since it has some cool features like having the hotend fan turned off when it's not in use etc...

Hey thank you for this! The camera holder is sweet, definitely going to check that out. It's probably best to use a seperate esp32 to tap into the serial monitor data similar to an octoprint setup, rather than combining both into doing both tasks, cam and monitoring?
@FoulNews
@FoulNews 2 ай бұрын
A single ESP32 can definitely handle both operations without any issues. The tricky part will be getting the code to run as a web server and monitoring the print data at the same time.

Very good tutorial. But what do i have to do to look at the stream when I am not home?
@FoulNews
@FoulNews 8 күн бұрын
You would have to either cloud host the camera through any app that can detect and host IP cams or you could use an RTSP style setup and open a port on your router to view it from any location. It's a lot more involved, but it is possible to do.

Hi. Thanks for your video. I wanted to install an esp32 cam, which was successful, but I had a problem. When I open the IP address of the camera in the browser, the esp32 works perfectly, then when I executed the further instructions in Mainsail, the camera image remains permanently white. How do you think I can solve the problem? Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you so much for the video, question is there a higher resolution camera available?
@FoulNews
@FoulNews Жыл бұрын
I think the highest resolution for these ESP32 cams is the OV3640 sensor with 3MP at 2048 x 1536. However, I believe you may be able to get a larger sensor in there, but would need to tweak the firmware in order to get it working properly.

I had to do the Linux install. I get all the way to sending the config to the camera in IDE. It says it's complete, but I get bad data and a "E (495) esp_core_dump_flash: No Core Dump Partition Found!" error message 2 times in a row. I get no IP address, regardless of what I am putting in to the SSID and password. I am at 115200 baud. I've reset this camera about 20 times and get the same info in the serial monitor. No other error messages. This thing is frustrating.

Well, your instructions worked, and thanks for that. It appears that QC may have deteriorated since you bought yours. I bought the same 4 cameras from the same Amazon vendor as you (little higher price by now, but still ok). All of the installation (per your video) went without a hitch. The problem comes when actually trying to use these (yes, all 4 act exactly the same). I can connect through my browser as you describe (i use the hostname rather than the ip address as you describe because ip address changes every time you power up the camera), and start a stream which crashes after a single partial frame. Initially I can control the LED as your video demonstrates, but that ends after a few seconds. If I stop/start the stream again, I get another few seconds of LED control, until the stream crashes again. I haven't decided yet if I'm going for refund or replacement. A 100% failure rate is a HUGE red flag. In summary, thanks for a great instructional on a not-so-great product.

I'm glad to hear it worked for you, but sorry to hear that the cameras aren't working right. Are you using a stable 5V 2A power supply for the cameras? They tend to crash and not work well when USB powered and work much better when directly powered using the 5V and GND pins on the back. Also, depending on your router setup, you can always assign a reserved DHCP IP address so the IP won't change on the camera.

@@FoulNews After programming via computed connected USB, I used a 5v 20a dedicated power supply connected (link below) to the USB port on the camera. Following your suggestion, I tried connecting it to the board pins, with the same result. 12.99 for the camera you linked..... 16.99 for the buck converters you linked.... you can get complete working cameras out the box for that price
@FoulNews
@FoulNews Жыл бұрын
The ones linked are the exact ones used in the video. I personally buy in bulk since I have multiple use cases for them, which brings down the cost per item and cost per setup. But if buying for only one project, there are definitely single units available for a less total price.
