Great lesson Rusty! I'm actually working on a Blues course here the past week from Marty Music ( You and him are fantastic honestly ), anyhow I'm still working on memorizing each and every dang E note on the board ( amongst the others of course as well ), and I keep forgetting I have one at that 5th fret B string. I'm also working on the A rooted E pentatonic over at the 7th fret which is another fantastic spot for so many E licks as well here. Anyhow, thanks so much again man.... your lessons certainly don't go unappreciated :)

Thank you for the concept! It's simple and sounds good. In my opinion, you should remember the following: It is actually an E minor pentatonic scale (B3-5 E3-5). The major scale (B5 - B7 E5-E7) is in major - but NOT in E major but in D major (or B minor). That would be a blues box on the 7th fret. Or am I making a mistake here?

Most of your vids cater to intermediate players, and as easy as they seem are just to complicated to get under my fingers, so a lesson aimed at beginner lead players was good, I didn't feel left out with this one, but, you say just 2 frets up from the root minor scale is the major, when everyone else says 3 frets up, just a little more time showing that might have helped people like me to fill the gaps, anyway, thanks Rusty, did your vids man.
@rustysguitar1
@rustysguitar1 Жыл бұрын
If you’re playing the whole pentatonic scale, the major pentatonic is three frets down from the root note on the low string. But these are small boxes built from the root note on the high strings. It’s a simple way to mix the major and minor sound together. Just on the root note of the pentatonic scale that you are playing. Keep rockin buddy 👍

Thank you Rusty from across the Big Lake! I am about 28 months into guitar...all online learning. I have watched and practiced with some of your videos. All well done! I like your style! Is there any certain order you recommend from Beginner/Intermediate to Intermediate? I play acoustic and electric Strat. Cheers!

You’re very welcome Thomas! Greetings from Chicago! I really do appreciate the support! It really means a lot. Honestly, I don’t have a certain order with the videos. But you wanna look for videos that connect the chords and the scale together. And most importantly learn the fretboard as you go! I appreciate you watching my videos! Talk to you soon🎸👍

Hey bro! I am rewatching this awesome lesson and I came with a doubt, I think you are using 1, 2, 4, 5 intervals for Major Penta box, but shouldn't be 1, 2, 3, 5?? (plus 6 of course). Thanks so much my friend, I am learning a lot from your lessons!
@rustysguitar1
@rustysguitar1 Жыл бұрын
Hey Rafa, you are right with everything you said. I wanted to use a box shape. So I didn’t include the third note of the major Pentatonic. I just wanted to use two boxes side-by-side. But of course you can add that G sharp note with the boxes. I’d like to look at those box shapes all over the fretboard and just add notes to those at times. And also you can slide up to notes within those boxes. I appreciate your support and thanks for watching my lessons.👍

Hi Rusty, very good lesson 😊just to clarify a little bit, when you say major pentatonic, means A major pentatonic, right? I was confused at beginning, until I breakdown the note😅
@rustysguitar1
@rustysguitar1 9 ай бұрын
Actually, I said the major sound not the major pentatonic. But the major sounding box contains the same notes as the A major pentatonic. I was keeping it simple in this video so we could improvise using the major and minor sound. But I’m looking at both of these boxes as the key of E. Thanks so much for checking out the video. Talk to you soon.👍

Thanks Scooby! The first box is minor pentatonic and the second box has 3 notes from the E major pentatonic. Then borrowing the A note from the minor pentatonic box. Just a simple way to solo. Actually you can solo with out thinking about any scale. Thanks man! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday 🙏

@rustysguitar1

Hey Howard, these boxes will not work over minor chords, because of the major sound of the second one. It works best over a blues sound. Seventh chords. Thank you for watching buddy 👍

Hey Rusty..These are all major chords. How do I use major and minor pentatonics in a chord progression with minor chords, for example C Am F G?
@rustysguitar1
@rustysguitar1 2 ай бұрын
These box shapes really only work over a blues progression. Using major or 7 chords. Over that C major progression I would definitely use the C major pentatonic scale over the entire progression. Thanks a lot for checking out the video and keep on rocking.✌️

The major pentatonic is 5-7 4-7. But I used. 5-7 5-7. To keep it simple and it’s a good way to start improvising. And also to locate in other parts of the fretboard. Thanks! Later bro. 😎

The 2nd box goes with the chord change so is it a major pentatonic?
@rustysguitar1
@rustysguitar1 Жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, the second box has the A note. The E major pentatonic has the G#note. So it’s not actually the E major pentatonic, but definitely does have that major sound. And it’s easy to go back-and-forth looking at those boxes.
