In this video I review the East German Combat Pack and make some hot chocolate for my kids on my Esbit Folding Stove.
The East German Combat Pack is an excellent military surplus pack that can be used for camping, hunting, hiking and other outdoor adventures. The bag measures approximately 12"x12"x5" and offers 12L of storage. The rubberized liner keeps gear dry in all conditions. The bag has many attachment points to connect gear and offers straps to secure a bed roll. It also has a convenient handle at the top.
A major drawback of the pack is it's suspender strap system. The straps that come with these bags are not very comfortable and easily fall out of its connections.
In this video I offer a few suggestions to connect other strap systems to make the bag more functional.
Overall this is a great piece of military surplus gear that can be bought for anywhere between $5 and $30.
