It's hard to find something that similar with that quality of art over a long period. My first thought is Devilman + Violence Jack if you count those as one series. Then the Elric comics from First and the Elric comic GN by Druillet. Sandman by Gaiman is slightly related. In books you can find Hickman's "group of secret powerful people control fate of the world as it ends story" in Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny, Creatures of Light and Darkness by Zelazny, various Dark Sun novels, and Empire of the East by Fred Saberhagen. There is also the Eclipse series by John Shirley but the heroes in that aren't the godlike characters. Edit: Forgot about West of January by Dave Duncan is a must-read if you liked East of West.
