When Kathy Hills left in 1998 Simon May had composed a very special theme for the occasion. With electric guitars and hints of African musical elements it brings the build up to life and adds a sense of melancholy.
Having been requested a lot on this channel the past few years, here is 'Kathy's Theme' mixed with the ill-fated 1993 'soul' theme. Doesn't sound too bad, right?
Also I must thank Ferguson Videostar for borrowing his recording of Kathy's exit that was included in a BBC ONE continuity clip he had uploaded. I lost my episode a long time ago.

I wonder if this actually was composed during the 1993 revamp, but just remained unused throughout that period? It fits the 93 theme all too well. The climax to it sounds almost exactly like the build-up of strings that starts the opening theme.

Kathy was back the very next year and got involved with Grant!! Although Grant was only using her to get back at Phil for Sharon 😂😂

I notice all the women in EastEnders go abroad to escape men while the men stay in Walford lick there wounds and go off the rails

2002: Only 2 months, rather boring but good writing. 2003: First full year, introduced many iconic characters; however still starting so fairly boring. 2004: Good storylines and started kicking off.

This theme was too seductive, lol 🤪😂😈, I remember theme when it came in 1993, thank God they changed back to the Original theme 90’s version if you know what I mean.
