My Christmas Cactus I received as a gift from my mom back in 2018 (I think), and it blooms not only around Christmas, but also around Easter! 😂

What do I do if my easter cactus didn't bloom this april. I give it a good amount of water when it's time to water it. I give it break for at least 16-26 days with the watering (depends on season), and I don't give it that direct sunlight, but I keep it somewhat near the window (it still gets sunlight), my room temperature is not too hot and not too cold, the soil/dirt is good and meant for it but it still doesn't bloom and it looks like it might start dying.

I have an Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving cacti and I am going bananas! Now my babies are growing however, trying to get them to bloom is another story. I've tried everything for example, putting them in darkness and light etc. As far as my easter I dont have an east facing window just a north, west and south facing window. I'm going to change all the pots and soil hopefully this will help. I'm also wondering if it's my climate I live in NY. Thank you so much for this information! ❤️❤️❤️

I water with diluted tea and or banana peel tea. My thanksgiving two are amazing, over 20 years old.

Hi Tyler, when I deadhead the spent blooms on my Easter cactus do I take JUST that part or the "rose hip" piece that wants to fall off with the spent bloom?

Hey there, I think I understand what you mean, you can remove the spent bloom with its base. None of the flat cactus stem portion.

I've discovered some discoloration on the segments,starting from the bottom of the plant. It's an opaque hard texture. It seems to travel over time up the claves. What is it and can it be left alone. I can't find anything on the internet. It's not scale,it doesn't come off with alcohol

Hey, It's called 'lignification'. Basically the plant's base becoming woody. It's a good thing, as it becomes more resistant to humidity at this sensitive part of the plant. Many species of cacti (including all the 'Holiday cacti') undergo this process as they age. Nothing to worry about. Hope this helps, even after a year. ;) Cheers!

Can I continue to fertilize in the summer months. I use Shultz liquid and it is very diluted with water.7 drops per quart. I didn't get my easter cactus to bloom this 2 nd year in my home. The Thanksgiving and Christmas cactus did. I propagate d with cutting s and have 2 new pits from the original. What are your thoughts 💚? Thanks!
