Coloring Easter eggs with natural colors and the wax technique
The egg shell reacts with the acetic acid from the vinegar, and starts the process of dissolving CaCO3 from the egg, CO2(g) bubbles are formed. This process increases the surface area of the egg exposed to the dye. Egg proteins react with acid and become protonated. This positive charge binds negatively charged paint particles, which then bind both eggs. The hot beeswax that is applied does not touch the surface of the egg, it prevents healing, so the egg shell becomes colorless on that part.
