Lived in Paintsville, KY for several years, and experienced a flood of much less proportions. As a Yankee, I found mountain people really awrsome and authentic. This breaks my heart to see this footage.

I'm so sorry. Here in Australia, we've been flooded 3 times this year. I have come to hate the rain, and panic when I hear it. Blessings and encouragement to go forward to you all.

Thank you for posting this video. My sister and her husband reside in Knott County near Hindman in a small community called Frogtown. Her husband’s last name is Childers. Luckily, they reside on a hilltop and escaped damage to their home but members of their family had homes inundated by the flood waters. There is so much loss it is unbearable to comprehend.

Note: Most of the roadways were high and dry. Building in the flood plain never made sense. When you build back better, don't build in the flood plain. Use the flood plain for parking lots, ball fields, crop land, pastures, hay meadows, etc.

I was sitting on my porch when this drone flew by above us. I'm in the trailer across from the red roof near the end of the video. we had a flood just like this a little over a year ago, not as bad but the house and trailers across from us were flooded then too. And those homes were empty this time because they were all forced to move last year. The floods are getting higher and more frequent. Something strange is going on. Btw my neighbor drown in the flood of 2021 trying to escape in his boat and nobody made a peep. No news coverage or anything.

I live about 20-30 minutes away that could of easily have been me and my family im just grateful that im safe and my love and heart goes out to my family and freinds that live there and everyone that lost their homes and family.

I am heartbroken for those in Kentucky. I live in Fresno California, but I'm hoping everyone who can will pray for the people of Kentucky. And also open your hearts and wallets!

Why do you all think that little rivers and creeks always stay little. I studied these areas. Everybody built in natural water gullies.

Wow, looks like someone builds in the flood plain. I'm just waiting for the berms to break here and flood out towns and cities here. It's a matter of time. Good luck with the rebuilding and new building codes.

In 50yrs I had never seen it rain so hard for so long. I knew something was coming. It’s going to take forever to have the roads rebuilt in many places.

I'd like to make a comment for 'editing' sake, you've done good work with you video. I noticed a print on the bottom of one screen saying Mountain Parkway. The Mountain Parkway is no where near the site of this flooding. I traveled the Mountain Parkway by motorcycle Saturday, the Mountain Parkway certainly was not affected. The Mountain Parkway begins to the West just East of Winchester KY connecting to I 64. The Mountain Parkway then runs East through Stanton, Clay City, Slade-Natural Bridge- Red River George, Campton, Salyersville, to Prestonsburg. I'm sure there are plans to continue it eastward.. The highway shown in the video is highway 15 which runs North - South through Campton, Jackson, Hazard.

We got lucky. We just got power back today, but we still have a home.

It doesn't look like America; it looks like China. The problem is that the Americans have deleted rivers and natural water passageways from the map and have built all kinds of things where natural water should pass. When it rains that heavily, where does the water go? So, build more canals and let rainwater find its passage away from homes and neighborhoods.
