My brother lives practically within walking distance from Shady Maple. Although we are not Amish, we consider Lancaster County our home. My brother has spent 48 of his 50 years in the county. This brings back great memories for myself.

My brother-in-law works at Shady Maple, so I’m real familiar with the lay out of the restaurant and gift shop. My grandpa and grandma grew up on neighboring farms along the Susquehanna and our ancestors who came over from Switzerland to escape religious persecution, founded the first River Brethren church. (Jacob Engle) I didn’t grow up there but I feel like I’m going home every time I visit. Love your videos ... I’m hooked on them!

This 2021 video came up to me and I am from Lancaster PA. It was enjoyable to see you at Shady Maple, which is a very familiar place to all of us in Lancaster PA. I came to Lancaster from Western PA in 1959. I am 80 years old now. I love living here. I drove Amish ladies for many years to the store and to visit relatives. I have crossed that bridge over the Susquehanna River many times on my trips back to Western PA. My friend volunteers at Blessings of Hope each week. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you very much.

That trip was very nice to watch. It is really good to see places of yesteryear and family that are still living on the land we new of in our youth. It's amazing how good the pets were. No barking and very well behaved for traveling. Very nice of you to share your trip with us. Lord bless you both and your wonderful children. And all the other family members.

Well that took me down memory lane. I'm bedbound now but I grew up in Lebanon County (Myerstown) and we had a one room schoolhouse on our property that my Dad turned into a week end flea market. He would have loved to get hold of that vase! What a lovely trip and adorable pups! God Bless you all.

Have probably been to Amish country in Pa. 50 times. I love it there, food, sites, countryside! I probably have 5 quilts from there, all quilted by the Amish in the winter months. Most of them I picked the fabrics and paid for them over the winter in installments, and picked them up in the spring. I love your videos and this one was especially special to me. I love persimmons, my Grandmother had one tree here in Va. This was a nice trip for us too.

...! i remember eating Scrapple when i was younger and all sorts of Pennsylvania Dutch cooking.. Lebanon baloney, dried corn, blood sausage, limburger cheese...we would visit Lancaster county each summer to visit family. I grew up in a PD household, but it was only by traditions.. We had Hex signs over the garage door, and my last name was Gensemer.

My mom handed down my great grandmothers Scrapple recipe to me. I’ve never made it but now I want to try it. I want to experience that buffet also!
